First Project: Fuzz Righteous

Postby culturejam » Thu May 29, 2014 1:17 am

Just as a teaser, here's the artwork for the first 424 Studios short-run pedal. It's our take on the classic Fuzzrite circuit, with changes that we feel make it a more useful tool in your tonal arsenal.

Thanks to our good friend Morgan from Leila Vintage Electronics, we were made aware that many boutique Fuzzrite clones were missing a key resistor owing to a nearly correct schematic that was floating around. So we included that resistor in ours for true mojo vintage goodness, and whatnot.

We also decided we would include a toggle switch to enable two operating modes: Vintage and Useful. The stock circuit is a wee bit skewed to the high-end...which is cool and all, but we thought a more rounded out bottom end would be useful in many applications. So the choice between Vintage and Useful is left to the user. (note: this is a side toggle)

Look for these in fully finished and ready-to-acquire form in late June. Protos are in the works right now.

It's very Bosch-like, but it's actually Pieter Bruegel.

I would be shocked and amazed if Bosch didn't make an appearance at some point; I dig his work.

Doh on two fronts! One for proving that taking a few units of art history doesn't mean much, and two because I can't make a crap fuzz rite pun out of his name. Still, great artwork.

If it makes you feel any better, a friend of mine is a retired art teacher and he initially thought it was Bosch as well.

Sorry, I missed the pun the first time around. I got it now. :-)

I clocked it as a Breugel, but maybe only because I dig his pics of dudes with bagpipes and big knives.

Don't know if I got the right Breugel though.

That pic makes me want to conduct a dialogue about witches, wood, ducks and floating in the name of medieval science.

This is a mockup. Not the best lighting, so I'll take more photos later.

So, let's take a vote: blue enclosure or gold enclosure?

Gold more sure!
It's more suited to that era of art and just looks a lot cleaner!

Yep, looks like a frame for the artwork. :thumb:

That's a tough one, but, yeah, I'm gonna have to go with the gold.
