Making Pedal Demos

Postby JonnyAngle » Sat Dec 12, 2015 5:37 pm

I want to make some demos with my iPad. I want to be able to pause recording and go direct in for audio.

The app I use now does everything except I can't hear any audio until I play the video back. So I'll record a 5 minute video and unplug everything and realize the levels are all off and have to start over.

Any suggestions for good apps? The whole goal is to not use a computer.

To be honest man if you want to make legit Demos then you'd be better off either doing it in a single take or using some editing software. If you're internet savvy and familiar with getting things free I'd highly recommend Vegas Pro, it's so easy to use and is top-notch.

I rent 2 shitty ass cameras & tripods from my school once in a while to make a simple 2-angle demo (pedal view and guitar view) and record into my computer interface. It's a bit of work but it gets the most basic quality across. Here's some examples of mine if your interested: http://www.youtube.com/JacksGearDemos

Also you could probably practice for a while before so you can nail it in one take if your really good. Also recommend doing a test recording at different volume levels so you can find out which one works best.

I was hoping to get it done without a computer. I have a few ideas that I'm going to give a shot and I'll report back

Take a look at the VideoPro Camera app. Haven't used it but know at least one person that has.

Or look at iRig. Some of their hardware has a dedicated headphone out for just this kind of thing.

WHAT ABOUT FIELD RECORDERS, LIKE THE ZOOM H2?

Can it handle modulated fuzzy bassins?

iMovie for the iPad?
I'm not sure if any video software on the iPad is audiobus compatible, but with iMovie you should be able to copy audio back and forth between the video software and garageband (ios).
