Playing electric guitar without amplifier or Line6 Pod or

Postby cose » Sat Oct 31, 2015 6:16 pm

Hello, I have been playing electric guitar just acoustically for a few years now, but I was wondering if I was about to play with an amplified sound what method should I use?

I don't want to have an amplifier or Line6 Pod or Guitar Rig 5 software or some guitar amplifier VSTs?

I have a soundcard connected to a computer and speakers connected to it. I don't quite like the dry sound of guitar straight into soundcard...and having fuzzes connected between the guitar and the soundcard doesn't help either lol

Have a nice Saturday you all!!!!! Cheers :excellent:

I mean an amp would be the easiest way...? But if not, a DI box, a recording interface and some VST's could do it.

You read my post? I don't want to have an amplifier and I'd rather not use any computer software

I mean, if you're not using an amp or software, you're kind of out of options. What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Why don't you want an amplifier? I mean you could get a small amp with an 8 or 10 inch speaker and it would be barely louder than playing unplugged but will sound way better and you can play with pedals.

Just want to play guitar without opening some DAW really (takes time to open them) lol

Used to have one but the popping sound it made when turning it on made me feel awful, considering another one now tho, thank you for the suggestion

How would that work?

Get an amp that doesn't pop when you turn it on?

A headphone amp is a preamp you plug into your guitar's output jack, usually battery powered and has a headphone jack on it. Like a Vox AmPlug.

Something newer probably. Popping is a symptom of older solid state amps. Lots of people like the Orange Crush amps. Depends on what kinda music you wanna play as the little Oranges are a bit of a one trick pony. Other than that I wouldn't know, I don't have any little amps...

These are fun for $20. You can plug headphones as well.

I have a micro terror I use for this often. Sounds good with the little 8" cab, sounds ok with headphones. It doesn't have any cab simulation at all, so it is super straightforward. You will definitely want an all the time on reverb for using the headphones, just to warm it up a bit.

Why would you say that? I've got feelings too :hobbes: I was just wondering if there was some effect box to put between the guitar and the soundcard so it would simulate amplifier  have a nice day mr. soapbars
