Free/cheap multitrack app for iOS?

Postby friendship » Tue Jul 07, 2015 11:47 am

I use my voice memo app all the time to record little ideas. I was wondering if there exists an app for free/cheap that can record, say, 4 tracks. Super simple usability is more important to me than features/flexibility. The reason why voice memo works so well for me is because I can hit record very quickly. But it would be cool to test out harmonies and other overdubs on my ideas before having to boot up my DAW and shit.

what is up my guys?

I can't vouch for either, but look at :

Multi Track Song Recorder
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/multi-t ... 99090?mt=8

and

Propellerhead Take Creative Vocal Recorder
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/take-cr ... 34536?mt=8

Thanks dude! I just checked them both out, seems like Multi Track has less latency, but also less bit depth or sample rate, can't tell which. But both of them are mad decent and do what I want, just basic overdubs. Still open to suggestions if anyone knows other options, but this will do great for now. :)

Maybe I'm missing something, but why not Garageband?

^ It's not free but is cheap. Incredibly easy to use, too.

Yeah and generally something like a multitracker I would think you'd want to pay for cause most free apps are simple or lite versions... Tonestack has a cool multi that you can use their effects with or now any inter app effect and it's pretty easy to use... If you just want long loops of stuff to stack check out Loopy HD...

Ah I didn't even consider garageband. It didn't come with my ancient 4s. I don't mind the free stuff being simpler, the simpler the better for my porpoises tbh

It became free at some point in time with an iOS upgrade at the time of purchasing new hardware. It would likely not apply to a 4S but probably started around the time of 5S (or possibly iPhone 5).
