Garageband is cool. Lots of stuff in there. I have an Apogee MiC that I think works well and is easy to setup.

Paging behndyhumpz...
This is also relevant to my interests, as I too, just came into the possession of one of the new iPads.

I've been using an iPad2 to make demo videos for the last week and I really like it, it's really easy and fast and HD, pretty slick. (I use a separately mic'd audio track that I just drag onto the iPad.) I'd recommend you get iMovie, it makes making movies super easy and it's only 5 bucks.
You won't regret the 5 bucks for GarageBand either, really cool. The Moog synth app(s) too, totally awesome.

Yeah, I have the filtertron on my iPad, cause it was also an iPhone app. I kick myself for not grabbing the Animoog app for both iPhone and iPad when they were like 2$ each.

Yeah the Moog stuff is pretty killer.

Garageband hands down is a must buy. It's $5.
I've used that app for every single recording that's up on
www.noisemakereffects.com right now. And iMovie did the videos. At $10, both are must haves.

Animoog.
Seriously.
Do it.
That app is simultaneously so instantly useable and yet so deep in its feature set, it's fargin ridonkulous.

fuck yeah Animoog.
that's what i have in my music/fun page. i keep meaning to pick up Garage Band or some sequencer but i've been using Cubase on the desktop forever so...... dunno.
hardware i'd TOTES (i'm a pretty prepubescent LAYDAY) pick up the Zagg bluetooth keyboard and case. it's like a hundy but if you type any amount of time at all you'll LOVE it. a bud recommended it and i want to hug his peener off in thanks.
http://www.zagg.com/accessories/zaggfol ... QgodqncRxgi got the blue case with the silver keyboard. looks hawt and way better protection than most of the cases out there. sucks, but you can't really use a screen protector on the 'pad. it kills all the awesome benefit of the retina display.
my favorite streaming site for 'pad pron too....

Shoot! I wish I would have posted this now, but Korg had there apps on sale about a week ago. I got iElectribe and iMS20 for 50% off, which is extremely helpful because they are not cheap. The Moog stuff is great! That goes without saying.
Propellerhead Figure and iMaschine are similar, but both fun in their own way. I imagine they are a lot like iKaossilator, but they all use different routes to get to the same location.
I also have Propellerhead ReBirth, which is a fantastic app for drum machinery. GarageBand is good. Haven't used it for recording yet, so I'm definetly not using it to its capabilities, but the strings are super fun to play.

Apps:
CS Grain - run yer geetar though this for endless modulation options. Direct recording as well
Animoog - my favorite synth. The output is as close to analog as you'll get from iPad
TC11 - great for sound design/ explorations. GUI is killer
Glitchbreaks - no other app glitchifies like this one
Noisemusik - if you like little noise makin boxes - get it
Been using the Alesis I/O dock for guitar/ synth connectivity. I know others have had their issues with it, but mine works fine as long as I keep up with the updates

D'oh! That's right - Noisemusik is great! I've used it on a bunch of tracks. Some really fun sounds in there get yer simulated 555-chip noise on.
I'll have to track down those other apps, kurge71 - they sound right up my alley as well.

the Alesis IO doesn't work with iPad 3's, doesn't work with apps that go vertical instead of horizontal and only works with some apps under any os newer than i think 3?
i was super wet for it, but then did some research. i'm thinking about trying out the Belkin one. that looks hawt.
