I wanna try this. Where did you get the old Tun-sols? Just checked TubeDepot. They have NOS Tung-Sols @ $900+ a quad. Not sure I'm into it at that price. Do you know if the re-issue Tung-Sols are worth while? Anyway, totally agree with your assessment of the Model T. I've seen it described countless times as having tons of clean headroom. It doesn't...not at all. There's always a bit of grime and I think that's why it sounds so damn good with Fuzz (I use a green BMP and it kills) and/or a Rat (I use a Volt thrower which I believe is a Rat clone of sorts... and it kills).

I just got a 2nd Gen Model t and it came with the original Tung Sols. i looked around and found the exact NOS sets for 400 but I can't remember where I saw them at. Someone else on here found them for that same price as well. I'll have to see if I can find it again. I've never played NOS tubes before but these tubes sound so fucking good.

Mine came with a new set of nos tung-sol 6550's but I dropped a set of JJ kt88's I had because I had heard they sound good in these amps. Played a while and it didn't impress me as much. Fast forward a couple of months later and I remembered I had the og's so I put them in, biased it up, and boom, there it was. I've had a couple different amps with nos tubes and they always sound cleaner to me, so I usually go that route if I can afford it at the time. But I wouldn't drop more than a couple hundred bucks on them. Lately I've been playing mine with a Holy Mountain pedal and a Pharaoh after for those times I want a bit more thickness. I also run a Stone Deaf PDF-1 on the clean setting at all times just to add a bit of boost. It's not my most favorite sounding amp I own, but it's the one I play the absolute most. But yeah, even without the boost, it's still a bit crunchy/dirty but I might just think that because my Sound City is straight clean at loud volumes.

I'm gonna replace the 55hz Reapers in mine with ET65s and was wondering if I should go with all the same speakers or if I would be better going with ET90s in the middle too.

I like the ET90's more than the 65's. They sound more open and articulate to me. However, in a 6x12, they are perfect as the two 8 ohm speakers because they handle a bit more power, which those two 8ohms will have to take, compared to the four 16 ohms that are sharing the other half of power. If you're replacing all 6, I would highly recommend this combo. They sound great together. I love the Reaper HP's I have but those are in a different cab, so I don't know what those would sound like together. But as a 6x12, in my opinion, the two lower impedance speakers should definitely handle a tad bit more power than the four higher impedance speakers, to be able to distribute the total power handling more evenly. I've played multiple combinations of speakers in a 6x12 rig and so far these 6 are the ones the match the most and give me the most efficient sound together so far. What all speakers do you have in there now?

I originally had 4 16 ohm 55hz reapers and 2 8 ohm et65s in the middle but I ended up blowing one of the et65s so I replaced them with 55hz reapers too. I can't hear any speaker being louder than the other like this and the cab sounds great with my soldano but like mud with the model t. I love my model t with my emperor cab and the weber 65s in there. 6 of those (or even 4) would cost way more than the wgs speakers so being on a budget I'd kind of like to stick with them. Plus, I'm trying to snag an endorsement with wgs, too so that would make it even better.

Hmm... Might most likely be to the 55hz cones, plus the Model T already being beefy on the low end. I turn my low end down a lot, even with th 65's and 90's, which are both 75hz cones I think. That might be where your issue lies. Where the Soldano is more of a high frequency beast, it doesn't have that issue. I would definitely try out a pair of et90's, since they will handle a bit more power than the 65's, plus to me they sound a bit cleaner and more open, so they'll give you less of a muddy sound. The 65's sound great but they are a hair dark in my opinion. I was gonna go with 55hz Reapers for my other 4x12 but the Scumback scumnicos I have in there already have so much low end, I opted for the HP Reapers instead. Fucking loving them.

You guys are killing my 55hz Reaper GAS, I need to replace the Celestions in my Hiwatt 4x12 and was really considering a pair of 55hz Reapers and a pair of something else (for use with either the Model T or SC Bass 150). But "mud" is precisely what I'm trying to avoid... Hrmmm... back to the drawing board, I suppose... maybe I'll just do a quad of HPs and call it a day...

I fucking love my HP's. I have two mixed in with two Scumback Scumnicos. I haven't tried the Model T through it, just my Sound City, and it sounds fucking marvelous. I actually might eventually replace the scumnicos with 55hz reapers, so I wouldn't say to let go of the thought at all. Especially if you're mixing them with two others, like HPs. I would only make the swap because I can sell the scumnicos for more than I can get two new WGS's for. Plus I rather have matching decibel levels.

Last night I gigged with the Model T through the 612 and it sounded really dark. Not muddy, per say, but much darker than at my storage room, though I did turn the amp up way more for the show. A bit too warm for my taste, so I'll have to mess with the eq a bit. But I'm still digging the 6x12. Tons of low end yet still articulate. If it ends up being too dark I might have to try to swap the 65's with HP's. I think the HP's are my favorite speakers right now. But I like big, open, bright mids.

Pair of 55s and a pair of HPs was gonna be my plan... I really dug the HP when I played it with Skully's Shiv

That's probably the route I'll take with my Marshall 4x12. The Sound City really digs those Reapers. I don't know if I'd trust my model T through it though. Might blow them the way I run my amps.
