Grief gear

Post by doominchains »

This might be the best place to ask. New here, anyone know what these guys used for amps?

I see Marshalls in the first picture below and then some Sunn gear (maybe a Model T) in the second picture but anybody know what models?

I'm thinking the Marshalls are probably JCM 800s and I should just get one already but does anyone know for sure?

Those Model T's weren't theirs, that was Sunn's gear IIRC.

JCM800's and 900's are the best bet.

That Gibson Ripper also looks to be running into a Peavey Musician and a Peavey 1810 cab, love those cabs.

I put out the split that "No Choice" was on, knew the band, saw them a couple times live... And I couldn't tell you. Was not a gear nerd back then.

I fucking love grief, from what I've always heard and limitedly know they used marshall and peavey but never knew directly what ones exactly. I just assumed 800's

yeah those sunns are definitely someone else's backline, you can see old mate's half stack in front of it.

I'm gonna go with 'whatever was cheap and loud' like a lot of that era.

Almost positive that was Grief opening for Sunn in 2006. Which I missed, because it was a Wednesday or something.

Yup, totally was:

Well, I think it might be a 9 and not an 8 from the photos in that link. I see JCM and 2 zeros definitely. The picture of Hall and Oates taped to the mic stand is a nice touch. I guess they have a sense of humor under all the anger and despondency.
