I'm enjoying how your poems read, someone mention it akin to an Elliott Smith song and that's pretty much spot on.

Are you writing these everyday or are you posting a backlog you already have?

Ill post everything I have...knowing people are reading them...i just didn't want to spam if it didn't have an audience.

As far how recent the poems are...so far its been a mix...in the last couple of weeks i've really got back into writing...so some are new, but if i don't have a new one, I'm going back to my old books to find some good ones.

These are really intense! I like them a lot. Listening to Conan makes them sound even darker. :snax:

i couldn't post last night..so to make up for it...here's an epic behemoth...

Her Beautiful Deception

He knelt forth
If he was a sleep he would be tossing and turning
decisions are difficult
when those passions are burning

He remembers one year past
Remembers the first day
Seeing her, standing lonely
lonely, by herself, by the bay

Difficult decisions
Were upon him this day
But he proceeded to follow his heart
Pushing all his fears away

Her image sizzled in his mind
An image tattooed into his memory
Never would he forget
The beauty, the regretful beauty

Not the disappointed he expected
But accommodation of his desire
She did not hold back
But now he knows the lies of the lier

Looking down upon her face
His red left hand
Snuggly fitted around her neck
The thickened blood as her cheeks expand

He remembers six months past
First deception he sees
The thought of other men
Bring him to his knees

But reality
Turns agony into anger
She begs and he forgives
Anger leaves and love returns like thunder

Blind love, blind
Blind to see beyond the facade
The shield she carries carefully
The games she places, the charade

She coughs once, twice and thrice
A slat of blood
Falls to the side of lips
He pushes her head deeper into the mud

She remembers three months past
Remembers the day that changed him
The day she made him this monster
The day the monster within took him

A happy man came home
Laden with flowers, cards and love
Her birthday was his reason for joy
Though the events shut down the peaceful dove

Smiling out loud
As the front door closes
He put his hat and jacket on the stand
And on the table left the roses

He quietens his footsteps
Surprise her with his early return
To the room he hopes
Their love tonight with brightly burn

She remembers his face
The expression slowly changing
As the thief on her bosom
Is caught stealing

Shock of the moment
Startles his eyes, mouth and brows
The moment freezes
Tick tock the deafening silence

He looks down on her face
See’s remorse in her eyes
The decision becomes harder to make
A moment longer and she dies

But he releases his left hand
And drops the dagger from his right
She breaths deeply
Blink a few times, restoring her sight

He turns away, disgraced
Not seeing the lier
Her final deception
To extinguish his fire

Her cat eyes spot the blade
Calling his name
One last time
One last time, assuring his fame

The blood runs from his heart
A broken heart
…punctured…
A bleeding heart

He remembers one year past
Remembers the first day
Seeing her standing lonely
Lonely by herself, by the bay

Sight is blurring
As his love leaves and his body dies
One last glimpse
He now sees the beauty of her lies.

I just got time to sit down and quietly read through these. Very much enjoyed them. Create or not, it's always your choice, but please don't stop sharing thinking it's not wanted. This stuff is great and I love seeing approaches to composition. I guess I'd be way more into poetry if it were presented in places other than coffee shops.

sweet man. yeah I know what you mean about poetry and the stereotypes...the poet that really gave me the confidence to write and share was Bukowski...the anti-poet!

Here's a new'ish one...kinda rhymes, which I'm not hot on, but i still like it.

The Last Day

Angels wear black
Demons wear white
I can’t see the light
I can’t hear the dark

Trees are cut down
Ducks hunted down
Flowers blown away
the world is not the same

The people I trust
No where to be seen
The can hear my cries
But no one moves their feet

Nothing to live for
Nothing to die for
Nothing to feel
Nothing to witness
Nothing to kill

The end is today
The end is tonight
Yesterday and tomorrow
The end is in sight

Pray for forgiveness
Pray to be free
Hope someone hears
your prayers to redeem

Close your eyes
And clench your fist
Don’t listen to anything
And don’t say a word
The last moment are here
And they are worse than you heard

All of the whimpers
All of the screams
Part of the process
Part of the plan

Now you realise
You’re nothing special
You’re nothing pure
No greater scheme

Life is a disease
That just found a cure
You’re just part of the process
Just part of the plan.

two part poem...

I am

I am the man who see’s no deception
or crime...

Make me bleed and I will smile

Take my hand and remove my nails
I will forgive and forget

Use me for all I have

I will give you everything I have
more than anything
you will ever hold

You Are

Basement of dreams
below the floorboards of reality

The mountains beyond the trees
beyond the sun
...beyond you

You’re nothing

In the greater scheme of things

...You are nothing

The Accident

You are an accident
nothing more

Nothing more than the weed in the garden

Forget god
Forget destiny, fait, hope
Forget the shit you’ve been fed
It’s all lies
All to give your life meaning

There is no meaning
There is no greater scheme
There is no road to travel
We live, and then we die
Just like everything else in the world

By some freak of nature
We ended up with the bigger brain
But thats about it

We are no better than an ant
An ant you squashed today
We have no greater purpose
Than that same ant

So what are we doing here;
What should we do?
I don’t know,
Reproduce?

It doesn’t really matter
Because in the end
Everything and everyone dies

Unormal State

News of a sky’s collapse
hits the masses
as left field catchers
march against the wind

National August day draws near
determining the champion
to run the familiar system
of rage and aggression

The fast lane swells
while the slow lane mills along
like a vice on a water balloon
meagre moments away
from the inevitable burst

The upheaval of revolution
tactics to reverse
the unormal state

Naked women labouring
behind closed doors
serving a distraction
as the game is played
through bad weather
and lack of substitutes

Everything then turns back
the unormal state returns
the sky flies back up
the marching stops
and the robots
all return to their duties
no questions asked

Butterflies and Fairies

A butterfly passes by my ear
wings singing in the air
as it floats from one flower to the next
using, taking what it needs
and leaving the empty remains
only to move to the next victim

Like a fairy it dances
through the air
bringing serenity and hope
the warm embrace of my heart
as I catch a glimpse

Yet it consumes
devours and destroys
contributing nothing
producing nothing

it’s silent destruction
goes unnoticed as it flashes it’s vibrant wings
it’s unnatural colours amaze me
yet I don’t see beyond it

I fall in love with it
it’s beauty blinding me
I let it in
it sits, perched, and so comforting
not knowing it doesn’t want me
only wants what I have

Fresh one written today....

Pen's Down

scattered thoughts and blueprints of time machines
litter the table nearing the end of a career
watches tick away the last moments before an end
but he is still working, making some last minute changes

pens down says the buzzer at 100db
but he doesn't listen, he wants to keep working
it't too early and the answer isn't yet resolved
too many assumptions and no time to test them

The buzzer sounds again and this time louder
he has to say goodbye but doesn't want to
he wants to go back and make it different
he wants to go back, and just give himself a chance

he doesn't mind getting back to the buzzer
he would happy to go, but not like this

he switches on the time machine with a loud hum
the buzzer sounds again but isn't audible
he climbs into the chair, he hopes it works
all he needs is a few more seconds for it to warm up

blinding lights and grinding gears swallow time
he sits with a smile and wonder in his eyes as all the pieces move
the way he designed, the way he imagined them all those years ago
when he first knew he had to set things right

this is the moment
he was working towards
the chance to go back
go back one last time

this time he would do it right
this time he would tell her
this time he would be normal
this time he wouldn't be a coward

this time he would stand up for himself
this time he would do what he wanted
this time he would take chances
this time he would live the life he wanted

but the lights start to dim and grinding gears slow down
the look of wonder disappears from his face along with the smile
the machine is not working, and hum gets quieter
its not working...all this time...all the assumptions...something isn't right

the buzzer sounds again, louder than before
pens down, its time to go

the buzzer sounds again
Pens down...

Cheers t-rey...glad youre enjoying it so far.

I think the 1 poem a day was a little ambitious...so the frequency may slip a little, at the sake of quality...
