Just got this badboy from chillerthanmost
unloaded sunn 2x15.
That's my wife hiding behind it
Going to make it into a 6x12

I have some questions for you woodworking guys.

What hole size should I be shooting for?
The speakers are internally mounted.

Also, what baffling or bracing should I be adding?

Lastly, would it benefit from isolating the speaker sets from eachother?

I wanted to do it Emperor style, with a 2x12 on top and a 4x12 on bottom.

Thanks fellas :thumb:

odontophobia thank you so much!

worm.. i'd have to see the inside as far as extra bracing that might be needed or sound posts or whatever.

I would say isolating the speaker sets does improve the overall sound quality of the cab, cause a many 612 that are all open get woofy/woobly sounding. do it 212 412 or 3 212's.

hole size. no more than 11". I normally go with 10.5"

also seems a little narrow.

A little narrow like it looks wierd, or it isn't going to sound great?

I stuck with 10.5 for the holes, I haven't dry mounted shit yet.
First time using a router. The holes look shitty, I just might do it again. Too shitty to post pics for shizz
I have a board to separate the top 2 speakers from the bottom 4
The internal dimensions are 53 1/2" x 33 1/4" x 12 1/2"
The inside is pretty barren besides a 1"x1" board around the edges to mount the front and back onto.
I'm stoked on it so far, I'm just worried that I'm going to throw all my speakers in it, then not want to lug it around.

just didn't look like it was wide enough to have the space of the speakers but with the internal dimensions you supplied it's plenty wide enough, it just looked smaller to me. but ain't like I had much to judge from.

and everything else seems to work out properly that you shouldn't have to do anything extra. I would probably put a sound post in the 412 section.

and don't be a pussy heavy is better. the empty 612 I just did for nolarift weights more than most loaded 412's from the bigger manufactures

I'm planning on building a 1x12" for my silent apartment rig, for which I'm hoping to pick up wood tomorrow or next week.

I also hope to put some decent speakers into this H&K cab I've got and get a grill cloth for it. I have no clue how to attach the grill cloth to this one though, never seen a 'system' like this. Anyone? Also, I have my eyes on some truly cringeworthy fabric for the grill cloth, but I'm not sure if all fabric is alright to use for this. The fabric I'm eyeballing is just 100% cotton and I'm afraid. Here's some pics of the cab:

I just say give it a go with the fabric you want and if it falls to pieces no loss. I'm all about trying shit regardless if it's supposed to work or not. I've seen people use old starwars bedsheets for a grill cloth and it look amazing.

Words of wisdom.
The thing is together. I ended up making 2 baffles, the first one looked like so much ass, I couldn't let it slide. The thing is beastly, and it sounds it as big as it is. Can't wait to take it on tour at the end of the year.

Great, I'll give it a whirl once I've secured the speakers! Just wondering, does the type of fabric you use affect the sound in any way? Did you notice any sound differences from the star wars bedsheets?

zero difference. it's just a thin cloth over the speakers. I think it would make a difference if it was some sort of thick ass blanket or comforter

Personally, I've used expensive ass mojotone vintage marshall blah blah grill cloth, and the cheapest nastiest stuff I could find (think of home stereo grill cloth) and I couldn't notice any difference whatsoever.
