Always love your stuff. I listened to it on my drive home the other day when I noticed it on my youtube feed. I just now got around to listening to it at home on my studio monitors up loud with the sub on....really sounds great.

 thanks.
I'm really happy with how that turned out... I'm wondering about adding some kind of nature sound or not..

How's the dark star working out? I'm thinking about getting one to replace my HOF.

It's pretty cool. I've heard about some people having a volume drop with theirs but if anything mine has a volume boost if I set the mix too high. I love the freeze button but I wish it would stay on when I wasn't stepping on it so I could mess with other pedals with it holding.

In other news...I just put up a new live song from my show last Tuesday the 15th. I did a 45 minute set but this is just an excerpt. I might put up another part if I have some time in the next few days to mix/master it.

I think it sounds good, and I would like to hear in in context in one of your songs :thumb:

anyway

I don't have a good place to put this so I'm saying this here.. thoughts on convolution reverb? Anyone in here do any good amount of time using them? the up comming project which The sacrifice, Rain spirits and the other two-ish new ones that I've posted demos of is going to be the test run for a total switch in reverb types to try and create more cohesive "natural" spaces like caves and things along with the use of nature sounds that I want to do.. I have one more of the "traditional" Ice Bear albums recorded that is a continuation of the last one and them I'll start working on experimenting with creating spaces..

I love love love love love convolution reverb: A friend has Altiverb and I would love to have my own copy. Unfortunately it's not cheap, like, at all, and while you can do a lot of cool shit with it, unless you're really diligent about creating your own impulses it can seem fairly unnecessary.

I have a convolution reverb but I haven't really played with it much yet. I'm mixing a thing now that I'd like to use it on so hopefully in the next few days I'll have something to report. The clips of them sound really cool. I also want to experiment with some granular plugins and chopping up some audio.

I figured I'd ask this here first and then in the synth thread since I think you guys get what I'm trying to do musicially. I'm thinking about spending my tax return on some cool gear. At first I was thinking some fancy mics but I like the mics I already have and I'm not miking up a drum kit or an orchestra. Then I considered a UAD Apollo 8p but I already have the Twin Duo from UAD and I don't see a lot of need for using more than two mics at a time and even if I did I have a 16 channels of Focusrite I could also use. Then I started to think about new instruments. I've always loved the sounds of the Swarmatron but it's so pricey but my tax return would basically cover it. Then I remembered loving the Buchla Music Easel but also thinking it was out of my price range but I can afford this as well with my tax return and some of my savings. Or perhaps a modular rig from Make-Noise or Pittsburgh Modular but I've never messed with anything fancier than my Moog Sub 37 and that took me two years to really get a handle on. I wanted to make textures drones not retro synth pop. What do you guys think? I'm terrible at saving money so no matter what it's going on gear. I could buy a vintage Jazzmaster or another EGC but that doesn't really give me much I don't already have. Help me be financially irresponsible by buying some cool toys :)

If the Sub37 took you that long to get comfortable with, I'd recommend avoiding modular or semi-modular stuff.
Everybody wants to get a modular these days but it's an instrument that is not for everyone...

If you have a computer that will run the software I might check out the Roli Seaboard?

I've thought about the Roli as well. I like that continuous control of the ribbons. I might just add that anyways since the smaller one isn't that expensive.

Most of that was me just not putting any effort into learning it. I think the routing on the Sub 37 has a lot of modular aspects since you can route stuff just about anywhere inside. The modular gear definitely has an intimidating learning curve. The Buchla Music Easel seems a lot less scary...still plenty of patch points but at least if I ordered it soon I'd have 2 months off from work to figure it out and experiment with it. My worry with the Swarmatron is that it would be too much of a one trick pony while the modular stuff has an overwhelming number of options. I'm giving myself a month or so to decide..the backup plan is to just get some more mics and recording gear.

Also, I feel like the only person on the internet that gets talked out of gear. The folks on Gearslutz are always trying to talk me out of mics...maybe this is the world telling me they don't want to hear my annoying music anymore.

This seems to have become a post your drones thread, so here it is. My band started a new side-project 3((0)),((0))((0))((0)) M((O))NKIES. Surprisingly, this is more drone/doom/ambient oriented. On this release it's just me and the other guitarist of the band. I played most of the guitars/bass, did all of the sporadic drums/percussion and vocals. Tracks 2 and 4 I did all by myself actually, those are the most ambient-ish things. It will be out on cassette on Tartarus, but in some way it's out already. You can read the story about that and stream the release through CVLT Nation:
http://cvltnation.com/tartarus-records- ... tery-tape/

Here's a pre-order link for the cassette too:

Lot's of great stuff in this thread by the way!
