always wished for a thread
that when somethin cheap comes up
on craigslist or ebay
or just in your neighborhood for sale
where you could ask
WILL THIS BRING THE THUNDER?
WOULD YOU BUY IT IF IT WAS IN YOUR HOOD?
simple as that
lets try it

marshall lead 100 mosfet for $125
http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/msg/3784963067.html

i know almost nothing about marshalls
just wouldnt want somethin badass slide by that cheap
fuck tone
will it roar

Those solid state amps are more complex than tube stuff and cost more to have serviced. My personal experience is that it's a real bitch working on or trying to find the source of a problem on a pcb amp. I'd stay away from old SS stuff unless it works perfect.

Guy in the ad says it "works," but it needs to be serviced. I'd stay away.

I played one of those in a pawn shop. It sounded nice and crunchy, kinda a little bit like a JCM800 with a tad bit less gain. It didn't get loud at all when I turned it up though. I'd use it for jamming at home or something but I doubt you could gig with it in a doom band.

conky has it. Marshall make pretty good sounding solid state stuff (used to own a valvestate) but solid state just gets its ass handed to it in a band mix with tube amps.

Hey man, I never said the prices were or weren't. Just giving people heads up for stuff in the area.

And honestly, if you don't try to haggle on 80% of shit on craigslist, you're a fool. :omg:

Yeah, I've gotten some good deals by letting the seller know their price was a bit on the high side and why. Doesn't hurt to try. On the flip side of that I tend to price things I want to sell on the high side so that when people want to haggle we're starting from a higher point.

I wish I was a spy. But I'm not and that is gay. I'm down towards the tri-states. Just thought it odd to scope something so close to home on happenstance.
