My bands drummer won a drum comp yesterday...

Postby ridingeternity » Mon Apr 29, 2013 12:25 pm

So freakin' proud to play with this guy on a weekly basis...he tried last year but the judges weren't feeling the whole balls out gnar style for the whole 3 minutes. This year he toned it down(a little...) and has been practicing his ass off for the past year just because...wasn't even going to enter this year but decided to last minute and took first place with this little number:

He won a new Yamaha Stage Custom and a special performance at the drum shop that hosted the event by Bloodmoon(although we are still unsure if this is a good idea...I mean we play houses...for people that are into house shows...idk if the people at this are gonna dig the loudness too much...).

Anyway super stoked for and proud of this guy, and figured a few here might appreciate his drumming, here is the vid of his first attempt:

Awesome, thanks for sharing.

Not much has actually changed from last year's routine to this one's. So, that first minute or so of teasing this year was to appease the judges?

Thanks for watching!

Yeah, he said he gave just a minute to the judges for the "technique" and "versatility" and then the rest was just improv to cover the "originality" score. Last year he went in with no clue as to what they were looking for, and used some of the feedback he received to his advantage this year while still maintaining a solo in the style he loves to play most.

I think the sound of his kit has vastly improved too which probably helped, could hear the individual kick strokes a lot better this year and he had some better sounding rides.

I love everything about that video. Especially the violent transitions to just keeping time during the first minute or so. Helluva drummer you've got there!

Damn.
Must be nice to play with this guy.

Bloodmoon. No genre. No ego. No drama. That is one awesome project.
Gonna have to hit up your bandcamp.

You'd have to keep up with his hash consumption, and then it might be a possibility...but even then, slim :p
