That is good.

I don't want to let this thread die, 'cause I feel like it could soon turn into the Conan appreciation thread.
I had a coupe of days off work last week and watched the two original Arnie movies. I had forgotten how weak the second one was without Oliver stone behind the script.
Also, what the fuck was up with the mirror wizard's castle of jizz?

Re: okay.

The second one is a pure comedy, that NBA all-star guy that died from HIV is the one protecting the virginity of the girl?
The animations? The mirror wizard? :D

Can't say I don't like it though. There's also that "red Sonja" movie where Arnold basically plays conan but they couldn't afford to use the names.

Seen the new one? I was glad to see the guy I had nicknamed "Conan" in game of thrones actually play conan, too bad it felt like any generic adventure action movie. No epic-ness like the original.

"Moving to Los Angeles, he took ownership of a luxurious residence in Bel-Air. He reported 20,000 sexual relationships with women and never married or had children, completely per his intention." - that's wilt chamberlain, the protector of virginities.

Yeah casting Wilt Chamberlin was crazy town...and Grace Jones, what the fuck?
It is comedy gold though, it needs to be redubbed like that other Arnie flick "Hercules goes Bananas". Hilarious.
I Still haven't seen "Red Sonja" as it is apparantly so bad Arnold himself won't even watch it. I heard they were going to reboot it with Rose McGowan, but it got scrapped. She could've made it work.

I didn't mind the new one. My standards for epic-ness in films these days is considerably lower though. The dumbass public don't have the attention span for 2.5 hours of slaying, rape, snake wizards and minimal dialogue.
Jason Momoa (sp?) is Drago/Conan/that guy from stargate. He's actually pretty cool in that kind of role. A sequel that got a bit more epic and weird would be cool, but they're gonna need Matt Pike to write the treatment and soundtrack.

i mean i couldn't choose a better guy to play the new conan, I think, but the script needs to be better and the movie needs to be way longer. Like you said, I guess people don't have that kind of attention span.

Movies that generally make it and become epics or classics always have more than ONE big fight/scenario or one up/down. Take Batman dark knight for example, whether you like it or not, it's considered a good movie.
When I saw it the first time I thought Batman was going to confront the joker and "win" when it turned out the movie was only halfway in. A lot of movies do that.

Introduce hero. Introduce villain. Make things hard. Final battle. Win. 1 hr 34 minutes.

It needs to be longer with more ups and downs to get that epic feel. imo.

Definitely.
I didn't mind the new batman franchise, which is saying a lot cause I fucking hate Heath Ledger, and he was great in that.
Every Aussie movie he was ever in that was considered awesome was due to the fact that scripts were golden and the supporting cast s amazing.
"Two Hands" doesn't star Heath Ledger, it's an amazing Aussie film that stars Brian Brown, and has a whole bunch of Heath Ledger in it.

I feel like with Game of Thrones and Walking Dead bringing the epic back to tv, people might be more accepting of epic movies again. Itd be nice to see, but I'm not holding my breath. Especially with Disney now owning the Star Wars rights....

game of thrones = YES.

walking dead could be improved upon. I was so amazed when I saw the first episode, it was like the best thing EVER. then it went down for a while and came back up - and that's not the down and ups I'm talking about wanting. down and up quality wise.

we'll see what disney does to star wars, lately they've been raped by lucas himself what with darth vader's "NOOOOOOO" and han solo not shooting first and all. pretty sure they'll fuck it up though.
speaking of zombies and fucking up, saw "warm bodies" the other day. don't watch it in the theatres.

Yeah walking dead, whilst just about my favourite show ever (I'm fucking nuts for zombies) does have massive patches where characters get brutally annoying. Friends of mine can't stand Rick, but the way I read his character is that hes basically just a normal guy, who the universe has no end of desire to fuck with. Its just a game of "how much shit can this guy take?" And you know, he is going nuts, and I like it, its real.

The only thing that would make game of thrones more amazing would be a soundtrack by HoF and Conan.

Yeah, Lucas raped my fucking childhood, I guess it can't get worse...right?

My wife really wants to see warm bodies, whats the deal?

Also nuts for zombies but sometimes walking dead just gets stuck in bad characters. For me it's not just Rick :p but I watch it anyway.
Whatever happens with Star Wars I'm afraid they'll jar-jar-binks that shit up for the kids. Ruins so many movies these days.

Well, go watch it then - I knew I was going to watch it sooner or later and maybe it's the same for you. I just know it had so much more potential.
