My Epi is in need of new pickups too.

Nick, when you say A8, you mean Alnico 8?

whats the diff between the 8 and 5? does it produce a hotter output, clarity, brightness?

I don't think i could do Avedissian, given I'm in the UK...but could probably find a local builder to do it.

yes Alnico 8, alex would be better to ask those questions about the 5 v 8 kind of comparisions.

He could probably just ship it to u in the UK, only costs a few more bucks to ship honestly.

I only skimmed through this, so please forgive me if I repeat anything. I've been doing some research on this because I want to write some doom/stoner metal with my Les Paul. A lot of people seem to recommend the P90 tone for this sort of music, so I'd take a look at these:

For just the bridge, you're looking at about $50 shipped.

If you want to try something less common, look into J S Moore, Zhangbuckers, or BG Pickups. I've read a lot of reviews on these pickups, especially on the Les Paul forums.

EDIT: Lately the Distortion Mayhem set from Seymour Duncan has been attracting me. Curious to see how it compares to the regular Distortion set.

I've always been a fan of the stock Gibson LP pickups, honestly.
My Motor City Nuke in my Monson is pretty fucking vicious. Stupid high impedance. Like 21K or something.
