Re: Dunwich Railway 15 1x12 Combo
It might be that the amp and cabinet together will only be 28lbs, so an 8lb Weber Silver Bell or Celestion G12H30 is not going to add that much. But if the amp is 38lbs, it's going to exacerbate the problem. I'd definitely prefer to get a more common speaker for the kind of amp Nick is building. The G12M and G12H are very popular in 15 watt Marshall-esque combos, and so are Creamback 65's. I also have tried those speakers at the Matamp factory and liked them.

Yeah, thinking of going for one. That or Weber 65 or Silver Bell if I want to save a little money.

saving money is overrated.

UPDATE:
Nick has posted the first video of The Railway 15 in a functional (understatement of the year, yo) state, and I love the way it sounds! Nick's explanation has me foaming at the mouth as well. All the money needed to finish the project is ready so we're all set. Now Nick has to finalize the prototype—if any more work is even needed—and then it's off to Mammoth for cabinetry.
I hope Nick doesn't mind me pasting his description of the amp here. It's about as good as it gets:

Really digging the Railway 15. Just a quick recap on the design, this is a single channel amp which has a bunch of adjustments for a decent variety of sounds. There are 2 different EQs in the signal chain, a bax/james early in the preamp, and a 2 band FMV (fixed mids) later in the preamp both which can be switched on and off. There are also 2 other switches, Dark/Bright is a simplified Depth/FAC control where Dark has no bass cut and no bright caps and Bright has bass cut early in the preamp and bright caps. Fat/Tight is a 3 way toggle that adjusts the frequency cutoffs for the gain stages frequency response where the middle position has the least gain, FAT has flat frequency response and tight only includes mids and high end. The gain control is dual-ganged so you can control the signal level between two different gain stages at the same time. This allows for a lot of sweep on the gain pot. Also has dual master volumes, pre and post phase inverter so you can control the amount of phase inverter clipping.
The basic idea was to be able to get both Marshall and Matamp-esque tones as well as solid cleans to fairly hi gain amp distortion within a single channel amp.
And here is a larger image of the front panel:
