The DoomTrain is an 18W amp which comprised of a Matamp GT120 and Trainwreck Express running 2 El84s at 18W or so in cathode bias. There are 2 inputs, 1 for the Matamp GT120 preamp and 1 for the Trainwreck Preamp. The 2 preamps are passively mixed together before the phase inverter and power amp (modeled after a GT120) Controls were simplified to Tone, and Volume for Matamp side, and Tone, Shift and Volume for the Trainwreck side along with a PPIMV style master volume. The tone controls take the general Bass and Treble controls and put them in 1 dual pot. The phase switch refers to how the Tone control operates. In normal phase, when the Tone is increased, this is akin to increasing bass and treble together where as in out of phase mode, the Bass and Treble operate inversely where turning up the Tone results in Bass going up and Treble going down. Likewies if you turn down the Tone, Treble increases and Bass decreases.

Current Status of This Amp: Electrically Complete and Delivered to Customer who will build headshell for himself.

Uh oh. I guess I'll have to settle for a different variety of doom?

Like maybe the doomiest (TWSS) practice amp ever invented?

IDK?

How well does 1W power a 15" speaker?

If it can do that, I'll take it.

I need a practice amp that can handle the lows.

Well lows could take some more power. Generally it depends on what you want, 1W clean or 1W dirty ya know

Clean and takes pedals well would be my choice.

Somewhere in the 3 to 5 W range w/ a 15"?
