Colossus?

Postby freddy_von » Tue Nov 13, 2012 6:15 am

Can someone please school me on the Mojo Hand Colossus.

Am I looking at a Sovtek Big Muff clone with a mids control? Or is there a bit more extra Mojo (couldn't help it) going on in there?

Any help would be appreciated.

It's not a straight up clone, but it's inspired by the Sovtek/Civil War Muffs. It's been very popular so far. Folks seem to love them. :)

I recently bought a Colossus. I use it on bass. The sound is massive. Can get doomy or bright and grindy. There are plenty more sounds in the box, most of which are highly useable.

Mine is on it's way, should be here later this week :!!!:

EDIT: Oh and it's here :joy:

MASSIVE muff toanz in this bad boy, and serious output. For a pedal capable of tons of gain it manages to stay very articulate even with the fuzz cranked, pretty impressive. Seems to lean towards the Civil War side of Russia but a wide range of eq and that magic three-way switch means it's not a one-trick pony. I did find it pretty dark across settings overall tho--I bet it slays on bass.
Excellent choice for anyone looking for a muff that can cut but maintain some real depth, and would work especially well for brighter amps or for players looking to add some volume.
Special low-frequency version.

Very good pedal. I've owned/tried a lot of Muff clones and the Colossus is my favorite with the Musket being real close.

I moth balled my BMPs and just use the Colossus. It does stoner/doom really, really well. Highly recommended.

Most of the dirt tones on my EP are the Colossus. I'm not a fuzz guy and really enjoyed it!

I just snagged my bandmate's Colossus to use on my bass board, and it's totally rad. The three-way switch (a filter switch?) makes it extra-versatile. It is massive on bass, indeed.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.
