I'll start:

1) mode 1 > mix to 1 o'clock or so > quantize set to free > set pitch to just below unison > apply a max speed, minimum depth lfo > set feedback to ~ 3 o'clock > adjust len b to fastest, then dial it back till you get a real nice underwater sound.

2) classic mode 2 > mix to taste > quantize to 5ths and octaves > set for 1 octave up/down/backwards to taste > Len s to very short, but find a rhythm > set random to taste (on the low side, but depends on your input) > hold soft button for a second or less > play live into the pedal while holding soft button down with occasional strategic lifting of the button for tasty freezes / glitched up goodness. Sounds really good w/ max reverb going into the ct5, (would love a 2nd verb after it :p)...

I have more, but that'll do for now. I wanna hear yours.

What's your favourite settings? I wonder if you have found a trick which I have not...

My favorite thing I've ever done with a Ct5 and one of the few times I felt smart with it was...
Set to mode 1 with lots of feedback in parallel with a gravitas set to a rising saw wave synced to a quarter note. So that the Ct5 would swell in slowly with the beat and then sharply cut and clean up on every 1 2 3 4.

here's that setting in a full mix, so it's hidden a little by the actual beat: https://www.instagram.com/p/BBC2rTlsXmx/
Watch the gravitas tempo light or the VU meter on the space echo and notice how the Ct5 signal is constantly getting cut. If I remember correctly that was just bass, 1 guitar track, and the drum machine.

I definitely need to try that out DRodriguez! Sounds killer. What do you mean when you say they are running parallel though? From my understanding they need to be in series with the trem after for it to fully cut the volume.

Sorry, that was a bit unclear. The Ct5 and the trem are in series, the clean signal is parallel. Like so:
Code: Select all
        |--->--Ct5-->--Trem-->--|
        |                       |
GTR—->--|                       |—->--Amp
        |                       |
        |-->--Clean Signal--->--|

That way the Ct5 craziness swells in above your normal signal. Of course add in other effects in each chain to taste.

Ah ok that makes a bit more sense then. I just messed around with my CT5 and trem and was able to get the basic sound, but I'd have to rip my board apart to run them both in a parallel loop like that . It sounds incredible in that mix though.

Man, I really envy the parallel split.

Cool, @abio - is that mode 1 with a 5th up?

Nice. I don't use the 5th a lot, as it then pops up to a 9? And so on. Still sounds gr8 though. Love the sound though, just need to play the right thing to make it work.
