Back when I was waiting for the original run to be delivered I spent too much time reorganizing and slightly rewriting the manual.
I've attached the cheatsheet that came from that.
Let me know if you think anything should be changed.

That's GREAT. I was going to offer to rewrite the manual because (no offense to Scott) the existing manual is a disaster. There are things that should be in the first two lines that are towards the end and vice-versa. This looks like a great cheat sheet. I'd argue that turning this into more of a narrative is even warranted for most people, ie. "The 856FZ is a looper and sequencer. The first loop ("N1") sets the master tempo, while two additional copies of the loop (N2 and N3) can be pitch-shifted, subdivided, and echoed relative to the main loop...." and so on. I get that it's technically not a "looper" but is creating a variable delay that's = the length of the recording, but I think phrasing it this way probably confuses the hell out of most people. And so on. :)

Hey--welcome! I'm not surprised to hear you find that interface daunting - - just the Ct5 is plenty daunting, haha. There's just so much packed into these, and that includes possibility and frrrrustration. But I really like what you're doing with it (and I'm sure others here will also) - - hope you keep it up! (twss) Thanks for sharing. :thumb: :joy:

I had some more quality time last night running an Amen break through the 856. Contrary to the manual's suggestion of a single note, I honestly think that running a familiar loop like a drum break or something vocal through the machine is the best way to understand what's happening.

One thing that's shocking to me is the apparent lack of MIDI sync - I really hope that can be added in an update because I consider it crucial for integrating the 856 along with other devices.

I think I'm going to make a Lemur template for controlling all of the parameters.

I believe midi sync is coming with the next firmware update alongside the next batch

it is already on the unit you have iirc. we will have the updated manual up in a few days. the original firmware had no midi clock in, that was made clear in the original manual, we have though shipped an updated firmware on the ones from a few weeks ago with this feature.

At the rate these go, I'll probably never own one. LOL. I'd love to try it some day, but I'm apparently not fast enough. I saw the email, checked and those suckers were gone.

Wonder if the folks at Reverb.com bought a few? ;) :(

Tim's Gear Depot on Reverb has 6 Your and You're for sale. Soooooooo...that's probably part of what keeps happening. I get it though. I mean, I can't hate.

hmm well i don;t see six (four)? but also iirc no individual sale has been for more than 1 of the yny so... i know you ain't hating though, just saying no one person bought up all the stock or qqc.

the stock for 856 has been really limited. that is probably why they sell out fast (ie email thousands of people to tell them ~15 pedals are in stock. ).

Are you sure there're actually 6 of 'em?

Some people just don't know how to manage their sales listings.

There's one with black velcro, one with white velcro and one with no velcro. The others may be duplicate listings or something. :idk:

Anyway let's give a big shout out to Tim's Gear Depot for being able to collect at least 3 of them?

It's not like mtl.asm sold out immediately on those either. The you're and your was up for a couple weeks before settling out I think. Oddly, I think it's my most used mtl.asm pedal these days.

856 is just in short supply.
