Four pickups, two toggles, one slider. Wiring?

Postby ThurberMingus » Mon Oct 31, 2016 8:52 pm

I have a guitar that I got from my uncle many years ago which has all that shit^

As a teen who only wanted to play t3h hebbies (in a typical 15 year old fashion) ripped the electronics apart to try and wire in a strat hot rails pickup. It was one of my biggest failures as a person.

I gave the guitar to my cousin, who was planning on fixing it, and he put it in the closet and forgot about it for a few years.

Fast forward to today: I have the guitar back and I have no idea how to wire it up again. I can't even hypothesize how a control layout like that would even work. Any ideas? I'll have a picture later this week.

Picture of the thing? I'm guessing it's wired as the toggles are for the middle two pickups on and off and the slider like a regular blade switch? Is that what you'd want?

Any tone/volume knobs?

Also, 15 year old me broke lots of shit trying to improve it.

No pictures yet, I still need to actually go pick it up! And that makes sense: outer 3 way selector, inner 3 way selector with a slider that turns the middle two on or off. There are master tone and volume controls, just one of each though.

I definitely did not understand the virtues of uncontrollable feedback at that age though. I also use 1/3 of the gain that I used to, and I know how to wax pot pickups now as well.

G dang it David, I post a completely crazy question that has been rattling in my brain for years and you make absolute sense of it within seconds. You're the best man!

Took it to my luthier buddy and when we opened it up everything made sense. One switch is for the top two pickups, one switch is for the bottom two pickups, and the slider is a big assed capacitor, for those doom tones. He's gonna clean it up and fix the tremolo, I'll report back when it's done!

It's with my tech now. Wiring is fixed and works as described, but he wants to fix the tremolo before giving it back to me. Pics when it happens!

Hype is building in my head about how this thing looks.
