How would I go about building a telemaster partscaster?

Postby Seten » Wed Jun 22, 2016 5:25 pm

I was thinking a jm neck pu, tele bridge pu, jm body, and I'm undecided/don't really care on the neck. How would I cut a jm body to fit that? I've never built a guitar before.

Thats exactly kinda the specs I've got in my telemaster, you should find the thread a few posts down. I got myself a warmoth body, because they rout and cut pickguards without extra charge. You can get it finished by them too but that bumps up the price a bit. I'm getting a used neck, but there are good ones to find. The standard telemaster neck pocket fits a telecaster neck, which has a different heel than the other fender guitars, strats/jazzmasters.

I think you could get away with using a standard JM body and routing the body a little bit to accommodate a Tele pickup. Get yourself a custom pickguard and viola!
