Couple aborted projects I acquired just got here. this is the first one I am tackling.

did some sanding

I might take some liberties with the body style. we'll see. the neck seems to be quite nice. Hopefully I can turn it into something worthwhile.

So things happened.

I took some wood away and I made it yellow.

Image

Put some paint on it.

Image

Took some of the paint back off.

Image

Made it shiny.

Did some work to the fret board too.

Like this stuff.
ripping apart The Thang MII: have a new [i.e. working] floyd coming I got cheap and putting a bari neck on it and doing the one bucker/knob deal

project complete! it's alive!
I don't like the pickup that much but over all the guitar is cool :thumb: lots of metalz! tuning is dropped A

What size strings are you using, and how's the tension? I've been curious how that tuning would hold on a 30" scale as opposed to a 27-28" bari.

I don't find the tension extreme but I like 11s on standard so :idk:

Cool. Someday I want to make a 30"scale instrument, but I'm not sure how I would tune it. Tension in dropped A at 25.5" with that same range of string gauge is pretty good, so I wondered if it would be tighter on a longer scale. Also I'm jealous that you live in a town where you can buy those strings (does the guitar shop downtown still sell baritone strings? I haven't been in Oly in a few years...). I haven't found a good local source yet.

I don't remember I don't go to that shop much anymore but I know the main music store in town [Music 6000] doesn't, I mail order all my strings.
And no there doesn't seem to be a big diff with the tension vs scale length with that set for some odd reason, I use it on 24.75" scale guitars a lot :idk:

I always mailorder strings, I stock up and buy in bulk every 6 months or so.

Made some more progress on my SG12 build.

I need more clamps.
