The Gypenstein!
60's Kay body
Basicz Neck [extremely modded, neck angle is adjustable so you can change string height on this faster then on a electric]
Selmer style bridge and tailpiece

Strung with silk and steels will more than likely get a light set.

I was going to do this as a 12 but that would have exploded this thing... :thumb:

here is a pict of the tailpiece, I found a old blue leather glove

cut the wing from a piece of elm that I got out of my grandmothers garage 20 years ago.. and it had been sitting there who knows how long...

Image

"suddenly" tragedy struck!
The elm started to twist..

So what was I going to do?

To ebay I went and I scored this fucking awesome koa
Image

it came from a tree that was blown over in a storm on a ranch on the big island and was wonderfully dried.

and here is where we are, right now

Tight, can't wait to see this finished. Colors, or is it gonna be natural?

Bigman, it's two of their big single stuffed in a MM style cover.. it's suppose to be big and loud.. granted all bass pickups SHOULD be big and loud but they aren't because people fear bass.

Nice. I've got a really hot double-J pickup going into a project right now. It's almost 20k on the meter. Looking forward to hearing it. I do not fear the bass.

Did some work on a few ones I built a while ago
this was originally a baritone but the owner never used it as a bari so I put a swank walnut/padauk tele neck I found on eBay on it, thing kills now.

That classical is beautiful man, headstock is super cool.

Finally I can contribute to this thread!

Completed my first pickup swap on this Squier strat I got a few years back. Body and neck are great, hardware is serviceable, pickups were subpar. So I bit the bullet, got a soldering iron and got down to it. Pickup is a dmarzio Billy Corgan BC-2. Sounds really rad, great with my big muff of course. Only snag was I forgot to solder the two wires for tapping the pickup together since I wasnt gonna need to use coil tapping. Rookie mistake, easy fix with some help from waltdogg.

As far as the next pickups I wanna get for it, Im thinking some sort of classic strat pickup for the neck, just higher quality. And for the middle pickup, if it exsists Id like to put something weird there. Like a strat sized goldfoil pickup. Any recommendations for those slots would be great. Ether way im stoked that my first swap went well. Looking forward to doing more modding in the future and fixing the shit I have thats busted.
