Upgrade Tuners for Fender Squier Guitar

Postby MannequinRaces » Wed May 12, 2010 3:18 pm

I posted this in the 'gear' but got a tip from MagicalLawnChair that this might be a better place to get some suggestions... so I'm looking for recommendations for tuner upgrades for my Fender Squier (built in the early 90's Korean made). I want some tuners that I can drop in and don't want to mess around with making the holes larger or anything like that. Does such a thing exist?! I like the guitar itself (of course it could be better) but I feel that the current stock tuners are the weakest link. I get tired of tuning it before every take of a song. Thanks for any recommendations!

I'm not sure if you'll need the mini's or the normal rotomatics though, sorry.

Okay. Thanks for that info I'll look into which ones to order. Thanks again.

If you do have to increase the hole size (which I think you will have to with regular Grovers), use a reamer not a drill. If you drill it, chances are you'll split the wood and your neck will be toast.
I second Grovers.
Gotohs are a bit cheaper and quite good too though.
Good deals done with all these guys

Fantastic! Thanks for your advice. I'll be sure to use a reamer if I have to.
