When I said this:
Deltaphoenix wrote:As far as modular ideas applied to pedals - In my mind I could see something like a modular but you can stomp on it. It would be really cool if it was bananas because then one thing could modulate several others. Basically the pedalboard would be like a modular case with a PSU built in. You choose your pedals/modules and connect then to the internal PSU and screw them into the Pedalboard. Audio would have to run through at all times but in front of each module is a stomp switch which activates the CV.

I was ineloquently trying to say exactly this:
Taylor Livingston wrote:Something more feasible might be to make a pedalboard that is just a Eurorack case with integrated power supply and buses, but shaped more like a pedalboard and with stomp switches that can be patched to whatever like you say. Then you have access to the existing huge library of Euro functions, rather than needing a bunch of new modules to be designed. I suspect that there aren't really many people who are looking for this, though.

I bet more people would be into it than you think. I see people on Muffs all of the time, who ended up there in a similar way to me. Using pedal boards as quasi-modulars. Even if it was similar in size to a Doepfer Beauty Case and priced right, I bet it would be a hit. Have the case itself handle adding gain to the instrument signal to get it up to line, maybe a good envelope follower and comparator in the case too at the input; and of course have the case step the line signal back down to instrument with a volume knob at the output.

I've been thinking of putting my board on a keyboard stand. That idea would make it a necessity.

People usually already have cases for their modular, so apart from people who're just starting I'm not sure a case/pedalboard hybrid would be super useful.
But a simple pedal that would basically be an effect loop for modular level stuff would be cheaper to produce and more useful for most people.

The people that would want this would be people that play live with a pedal board usually.

Yeah, but then also you have people like me who use a modular and already have a case but could be interested in this too :).

Awesome, that looks great! I've got a dual VCA from Pittsburgh and have no complaints. Much of their stuff tends toward the bread-and-butter end of things, but recently they've also had some more far-out designs as well which is nice to see.

Don't know why I didn't reply to this when you originally posted it, but I totally agree. This guy's stuff is very cool. My original plan for my own business was more along the lines of this kind of experimental, one-off world. I hope to head more in that direction over time.

I've been following this guy for years, who's got a similar thing going:
