The most recent run of paisley Telecasters and Strats looked pretty bad in person but I'm digging the paisley Jazzmaster that's making its way over now for domestic sale

I must be out of the loop, I didn't even know Fender was making guitars in Japan again. But yeah, those sure are pretty. Are you thinking about buying one?

Doubtful, I've got my heart set on building an Esquire and a Jazzblaster before the end of the year, I just have to get off my ass and start finding parts.

Although a paisley Jazzblaster with JM-sized wide ranges...

the polar white tele, with offcolored pickguard and pao ferro fretboard is a serious looker, too.

put 12 gauge strings on the jaguar today, and tried to intonate it for d standard tuning. having a horrible time keeping it intonated with the bridge. a bridge change might be necessary overall. based on this i'd recommend some thinking or tinkering for anyone looking to get the jazzmaster or jaguar and downtune it a bit. even a whole step is too much. will report back later if i can fix it -- i'm hoping some natural oil build up and breaking in might help. we'll see.

shim the neck and raise the bridge up. increased break angle helps to hold everything in place.

The guy from The Strokes got a signature guitar. It actually looks kind of cool ('70s headstock + bullet truss rod) but as a celebrity endorsee it's hilarious to me. "Remember that band you haven't listened to since the first Bush term? Buy their gear!"

Bummer that they went with the three bolt neck, I'd put it with an Ed O'Brien body and be very happy.

Whats so bad about three bolt? Less secure?

It's not standard so you can't just drop it in to the 4-bolt bodies. The necks might be re-drillable, I guess?

Heavy body + three bolt neck + a couple decades of heavy use = wobbly neck pockets. At least based on my experience with the '72 tele deluxe I used to have.
New strats teles though, handled with care...I'm sure they'll hold together just fine.

That sounds like a great plan. Having guitars you love to play is very inspirational.

How is that going?
