I can barely fucking restrain my excitement for the St. Vincent bass. I'm so sure it'll be awesome, I'd almost be ready to drop a deposit on one and they've not even released concept drawings or anything on it yet.

It will be the instrument that brings me back to mainstream/mass produced builds. I cannot wait.

Has it been confirmed? I thought it was a rumor. I know they mentioned it in the video but I haven't seen any press stuff about it.

Yeah, the guitar did this to me. Sometimes I still can't believe it. I've yet to throw a single hissyfit about poly finish, dimarzio pickups, or a 2-point trem :lol:

Arrived today, stoked as fuck that AMS sent it FedEx Saturday delivery, free. Whenever I've ordered from big companies, I've always had the best luck with them (Sweetwater, too).

The knobs feel great. The fluted/grippy part is almost round, so I don't really notice the slightly triangular shape. One big plus is that the pots have just the right degree of stiffness, so you can make fairly precise turns when rolling back on a fuzz. It sounds really great with a Fuzz Face—I might do another demo with pedals soon.

What I think is really my only beef with the guitar: the knobs are a little too far back if you're used to something like a strat or a tele. It's really not a big deal if you play without the trem arm, which is most likely what I'll end up doing—I really prefer the long throw of a JM trem anyway, and don't find myself using strat-style trems too often, so it's not something that really bugs me in the end.

The bridge pickup looks super high compared to the others. Did it arrive that way?

I was just thinking the other pickups looked low. But it sounded cool as is.

Would love a pedal demo.

Wish these were available with less branding on them.

D-Rod— they do make some custom models for preferred dealers, but they're more expensive, usually around 2300. Some of them have blank fretboards, which look pretty cool.

As for the bridge pickup, that's indeed the way it came. If you look at it in profile, it's only a little taller than the middle and neck—the pick guard is actually pretty thick, so it makes a bit of an illusion. The way they're currently set, the volume is totally even, so I'm leaving it as-is for now.

Re: my comment about the volume knob—the more I play it, the more I get used to it, even with the trem bar on.

I thought about it, but I'm not much of a sparkle finish guy at the end of the day. I really like the dark color of that roasted neck, though. Plus as much as I mainly rely on side dots, I like having some sort of fret marker (though these look pretty slick).

Honestly, I normally loath humbuckers (incl. mini humbuckers), but these don't sound that bad to me.

I like both, but I typically lean towards single coils. I've liked mini humbuckers in the past on things like LP Deluxes and Firebirds, but these feel better. Brighter. I've got some redundancy in my guitars, which kinda nags at me a bit—the cool thing about this one though is that it really doesn't sound like anything else I own.

Plugged it into my JMP earlier today just straight in, and it was FUN. I'm usually not a fan of totally dry signal, but I surprisingly didn't miss the verb.
