The beauty of the cheapo Danelectro

Any other Dano lovers in here? I've got a few guitars that I love but I always come back to this piece. It's cheap and by most accounts, a crap guitar but I love the sound of those lipstick pickups and something about it keeps me grabbing it to play constantly, despite owning much better guitars. Best $280 I ever spent. Plus, hey, the pickguard looks like a seal. The only thing I might change is swapping out the pickup selector switch for a switchcraft or something nicer. Mine makes terrible noises when I even look at it funny, and that was brand new out of the box.

I had a U2 baritone reissue that I sold because I didn't use it. It looked good, but I felt a bit dirty using a Danelectro thing. Well, I got it second hand so I guess that's ok.

Love Danos!
Have had the normal 63 and baritone 63 and a baritone 67(got modded into Bass VI after a while).
Had Daniel baritones as my main guitars for 2.5 years.

All the electric guitars on our first album is Danos.

I've always wanted to try one but never see them around somehow. What are the necks like on them? Chunky, skinny?

^reissue Dano necks are skinny, originals I think are thicker.

I had a Danelectro for three years but I couldn't get along with the neck's thinness and the flat fret board. It sounded really good with both pickups on though.

Yeah I only play with both pickups. Sounds kind of strangled with just one.

I have the same guitar. Sounds so good. I got it for my wife cause the skinny neck fit her dainty lady hands but I end up picking it up a lot. Every time I get a new pedal I think "what will those dano pickups sound like through this?" The neck is a too skinny at the nut for me to get too crazy on it but its still fun. My main dirt pedal has a momentary feedback loop and the dano's stacked pots make for some crazy bleeping and blooping.

Played my friend's Convertible recently and loved it. I thought it had a really great sound. Feeds back like a motherfucker, though—can't imagine what playing that thing in a loud band situation would be like, haha...
