Depends on the shape and color. I think semi-hollows and telecasters can look good with them, and my own Aerodyne bass, of course

I love it on Gibsons, everything else is hit or miss. But that's only because I'm brainwashed.
Those two Aerodynes are definitely hits.

Don't care. Won't pay extra for it though.
My 339 Studio has black binding and it's nigh invisible on the baked maple, my Studio doesn't (my oldschool one did back when they still did them on it).
If the fretwork is good, I care even less.
