In a perfect world I'd have found a white/tort and kept it as was, I don't like any of the color choices/combos offered; they went for the Big Three of boring.

I wish they went for more vintage colour choices rather than three common colours.
Everything comes in sunburst and white pickguard on black is just ugly.

The three they chose were the most 'saleable' to the masses in case these didn't take off. I don't blame them.

Hoping for better choices in future years, as I desperately want a second or third to do unholy things to.

Fretless VI anyone?

Yeah I get that but clearly they didn't realize how awesome Bass VIs are and how easily they can sell them.
But yeah if they have a second run with better colours I'd totally pick up another and do unholy things to one.
A fretless VI sounds ridiculously fun!

This is how you perfect a bass VI. FENDER and Squire take note.

Still playing my red VI, got a staytrem bridge(im sorry I ever doubted you Schnikes) it made a hell of a difference.

Yeah, I didn't believe a bridge could make such a huge difference until I got my first Mastery on my JM. That sold me and the fact that Staytrem offered a Bass VI spec'd model for less money, total no brainier. The improvement was immediately obvious, even on my Custom Shop VI.

On the topic of Fender colour schemes, it is my personal belief that every model should be offered in inca silver. On the proviso that the headstock be black.
Actually since discovering and then lurking this thread the other day, I've been toying with the idea of trying to put together a tuxedo baritone special in that HH configuration.
Olympic white body, black headstock, black hardware...mmmm, sexy.
Only problem is, can't find a body routed in that configuration (let alone in OW) and neck is nowhere in sight....sigh. Mother fucking sigh.

French luthier Loic Lepape has just sent me this picture of the Bass VI he built for me. I should grab It next saturday. It is made of steel like any of his guitars and basses. Neck was made by USACG though.

Thanks for your comments compadres. Kudos to Lepape for my order was nothing more than an irrelevant addition of photographs (deimel's firestar), sound samples (Kazu of blonde redhead) and a crave for a more traditional fender VI. You should check his work out. He is arguably Ilf compliant.
