Most of the warmest sounding I've heard are a lot of the cheap '80s flangers. Off-brands like Yamaha, Korg, Pearl, Guyatone, Aria. Stuff like that. I don't know if it's the quality (or lack thereof) of the chips they used or what? If you're going the digital route with your design, it might not be too difficult to emulate that with filtering.
