Echo-X

Postby coldbrightsunlight » Thu Jan 07, 2016 4:09 pm

So while searching the internet for delay pedals and still waiting on the (as far as I knew) as yet unnamed and unreleased awesome rainger delay, I happened upon something about a mysterious pedal called "Echo-X". I was intrigued, visited raingerfx.com to have a look and then I ordered one immediately!

Why the quiet launch? :poke:

Can't waaaaaaaait. :yay:

David is the king of the quiet launch!

Post a demo dude, I'm super intrigued!

I will for sure. Don't have a proper recording setup handy right now but I'll do something!

If Rainger sells a pedal but doesn't post about it on the forum, did it really happen?

Yes - it's released! How do I do a big launch??? I don't know... :idk:
Should I post on the main page here??
Maybe I should go back and do proper launches for all RFX stuff
I must suppress my english modesty....

 Yeah I don't really know either, post about it somewhere on ILF? It's pretty much the only gear related site I regularly look at. Still, I found the Echo-X so I guess whatever you did worked pretty well. :thumb:

Ha! I guess so.
I put a few little clips of it on Instagram (davidrainger), which I'll put onto Youtrube channel.

Get someone with a beard to make a demo video that rarely features the pedal.
Instagram one corner of the pedal.
Send one to Juan Alderete.

I think that's how they do it these days.

That is too funny!
Yeah, I gotta say I'm not keen on people talking in demo videos. JUST PLAY US THE PEDAL, WHY DON'T YOU!!!!!
I do like the bite-sized 'best bit' clip idea you have to do on Instagram. Just do a series of them.

 you really nailed down the pedal marketing of today.

Agree about demos, I think the clips on the rainger website giving a few sound examples is about all I need for anything but the most complicated pedals.

It's in! Everything I wanted and more I think. The base delay sounds reet nice, very dubby as described originally. Can't go wrong with it as a nice plain tiny delay.

More importantly, all 3 of the igor control modes are great fun! The "send" mode is for me the standout and the main reason I bought the pedal, and it does not disappoint. Lovely for doing the selective echo dub thing live (didn't know how much I was missing not being able to do this ) or holding a drone to play over, and as hopefully the demo shows, when doing this the notes slowly decay in a very dreamy way.

I was surprised how usable the delay time control is, obviously there's wild pitch shifting sounds there but I also love being able to switch between a super short delay for a not-quite-right resonant sound and whatever delay setting you had before just at the press of a switch.

Max feedback buttons are always fun.

With no further fuss, here's a short clip of me noodling in the three modes, a wizard of pitch and driving notion show up to help out. It's just a phone recording and I didn't really plan what I was going to do, but I hope it shows the basics of what this pedal is about (which is fun and sounding awesome).

EDIT: Is it just me or is the soundcloud thing not working anymore?

Here's the link in case it isn't just me. https://soundcloud.com/death-truckers/rainger-fx-echo-x

David or any users out there, is it possible to adjust the maximum delay time of the pt-chip? I really love it when PTs start getting pushed out over 800ms and they start to go to shit.
Mmmmm

(Just emailed you).
It's only possible to maximise delay time with wirecutters and some confidence undoing nuts and stuff and opening it up....
Hard to go back on this procedure....
