Regreted selling it, Loved the sound, full and fucking balls out awesome.

The last version that I got, I dont know what it was but I really did not bond with it well. I think it was the clean blend. Also felt like something was missing from the origional pink version and the last current on I got.

was it too "clean"? perhaps you were hearing the difference the buffer makes?

That might be it, felt like something was missing between the v1 and the v6. Maybe I am no longer becoming a fan of clean blended sounds because I may be braching out into different instruments.

Too clean may not best describe the sound I was hearing. Prehaps it was a more velcro like sound as apposed to a fat sound.

I really should be keeping pedals from now on :hello:

more velcro-y than fat might actually be a good description for the difference the buffer makes. also the fact that there is a bit more high end may contribute to that as well since you need to turn down the shape knob and turn up the volume a little to get the same sound... maybe? just thinking out loud.

To be quite honest I was never a fan on the gate option, I don't know what it is but Gated pedals and I never quite bond. Maybe they don't like my face.......

I would have to AB them again to really know a 100% as it was a long time between the v1 and the v6. I actually really liked the design of the v1 as well, gave more of a "fuck your ear drums and die" type of feel to it.

Would it be hard to re-create and v1 again or did you go lucas style and edit the original movie"?

I didn't think I'd like the gate that much but it's so useful for me. Makes shit really percussive, or feed a delay into it for sweet dying tones. Mmmph.

yeah that's cool. i'm not really that into super gated stuff either, but i try to deliver the goods for other folks! as for the original v1, i'm not sure i have any of those boards left (maybe?) and all of the original files have been long lost/saved over by accident... i have random boards of the other versions though.

Not getting rid of my older version that you fixed for me. But I probably need a newer one as well.

:!!!: I got #20 (4 knobs, 1 switch) this week...OMG it really just kills on bass. I like everything wide open and the switch to the top, at least with my practice amp.

Didn't know these actually got made? Is it gated???

It is Old School with dat MoJo bro. And no, it isn't gated.

From a few minutes playing with the new one I just got, it's definitely different to how I remember my old vertical one sounding. More velcro than thick is what I'm getting on the settings I remember loving the most, but by turning the input gain down (was nearly always full on the old) I'm getting similar sounds. Is that the buffer raising the input gain a bit or something?

Either way, I love the new velcro sounds (especially with the gate!! :yay: ) and it's still really versatile and can sound thick as hell. I'll need some time to figure out how it works best with me now but I'm glad I've got another!

yeah the input gain is set up slightly different on the new ones so it will require a different setting to get the same tones. the buffer is raising the input impedance and consequently the treble content, which in some ways can sound like an increase in gain.

also, if you want more or less the same tones as the old version, just flip off the buffer! find the little internal DIP switch and use a tiny screwdriver to flick the little toggles - 1up/2down is buffer off, 1down/2up is buffer on.

Tried it with and without, and it's soooo much better with the buffer on. Without the buffer it doesn't get that bright on guitar (which iirc is why I sold my first one), but with the buffer the whole range of the shape knob is much more usable. This new version, maybe it's just the buffer if they aren't that different, has so many sounds I don't remember from my old one, and they're great, and it has all the sounds I DO remember too. I said this about the last, but this one is actually not going anywhere.

yeah! the buffer is on there to make it *also* work really well with guitar and give the whole thing even more range... maybe it warrants an external switch? :idk:

sweet! i'm happy you're happy. :thumb:

I don't think an external switch is that worth it because all the sounds of the buffer OFF are probably available by tweaking the input, shape and gain.

overall the the feel and the frequency response are definitely different, but yeah most of the sounds are available.

Yeah that is true, it is a different sort of feel, even with very similar sounds dialled in.
