I feel like this sounds way better than the first time I heard it somehow... That demo more or less kills!

finally scrounged up for the zap machine and got it today.

Label says #4/20 vol. 1. Does this imply different incarnations of the device in the future?

I went to Fat Tone and walked out with #5/20. I love this pedal.

I gigged with it last weekend and it sounded great. I used it as my only fuzz, but I could see using it with another fuzz and not having redundant sounds. I don't think it gets quite as high gain as my Tone Reaper or Fuzzrite copy, but you can't get a bad sound out of the pedal.

Can anyone compare it to any other fuzz sounds? Just curious.

It might be easier to list what it doesn't sound like. I don't have anything else that really sounds like it. It's part germanium, part silicon I think, and it seems like the germanium gives it a kind of sweet overtone. It doesn't sound like my NKT sunface, it's clearer sounding, but the amount of fuzz is similar. I have a Tone Reaper and a Tusk, and it's not like those at all. For what it's worth, I don't think Gearmanndude's demo really showed it at its best (and I'm a big fan of his demos), because some of what you hear after 2:10 is the amp getting pushed too hard. I found that unity is around 9 o'clock on the Level with my setup, so there's a lot of room to boost the input of your amp. The best feature of the Zap Machine is that the fuzz dial is usable all the way through its range. You can get a nice dirty overdrive sound at low fuzz settings. You can't really get a clean boost out of it, the fuzz is always there. If you like what you hear up to 2:10 in The Dude's demo, chances are you'll like this fuzz.
Hope that helps.

That actually makes sense...I was having trouble instantly placing the sound in the demos, probably easier to describe what it doesn't sound like
Thanks for the input.
