I've got a question... how is Musket with palm muting? from my experience Muffs don't like it very much, but i feel like because of the features on the Musket, it could...

thinking about offering my Pharaoh for a trade, you know

Palm muting with the mids and focus up gives it a huge dark AND articulate growl. You're making the right choice :thumb:

Hi! This is my first post :)

For years I've had to switch between a Big Muff and a Rat. The Rat was there for palm-muting and some solos that the Muff just could't make sound properly. I never thought somebody could have thought about this problem (I just thought I should just stick to the standards) and have built a pedal that fixed my problems, but a couple of weekends ago I decided to search a bit, and saw some good fuzz alternatives. In some comparisons (like one between Pharaoh and Musket) some people said "Musket sounds artificial", and I was like "What? Really?". I totally disagreed. And ordered a Musket.

When I plugged it next to my Big Muff and Rat to compare, I was a bit afraid that I would be disappointed. First I tried to find a sweet configuration (which I'll share later), then I played a bit clean, then with Muff, then with Rat, and finally with the Musket. "OH MY GOD WHAT'S THIS!?" O_O I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Finally the warm crunch of a fuzz which I could palm-mute, an agressive and much brighter Big Muff, or a fatter and warmer Rat. Cool, I finally found something I didn't even think it could exist. Now the Muff and the Rat are boxed and might be sold soon.

And now that I was happy with finally having just one pedal for goin' dirty, I discover the Blunderbuss. Oh man! >_< I'm not buying it immediately 'cos I want to explore the Musket in depth, but I know I'll have it before July. It just sounds great too.

My currently favourite guitar sound is the one Billy Corgan achieved in Smashing Pumpkins' "Zeitgeist" album (I'm more fond of Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie or Adore, but Zeitgeist's guitars and drums just sound massive). Take "Tarantula" or "Doomsday clock" as an example. While the Musket doesn't give that exact sound (it would be much more expensive to achieve it, with some Diezel amps and other stuff), I can get something around the same idea: an agressive fuzz.

My settings are:

Pre: 1:30
Mids: 11
Focus: 2:30
Fuzz: 3:00
Tone: 12

Maybe we should open a topic about settings, shouldn't we?

Sounds like a good plan.

Make sure to include as many Blunderbuss settings as you can.

I've got a Blunderbuss. (Love it.) So, I can contribute to that part of the thread.

Here's the thread.

My settings in that thread are different from the one I typed a couple of posts ago, because I read something about Pre and Focus that made me change my mind. I guess it won't be the last time I move these knobs :)

Hell, I must have moved these knobs like 10 times and I still find a config I like better than what I had.
