Favourite Whetstone tricks thread!

Postby Wizard » Tue Dec 07, 2010 6:02 am

I decided that the whetstone is probably my favourite toy on my board at the moment due to the 1700000 different fuckigns things you can get it to do, and i think thats rad. Why just tonight, in the middle of a song at band pracitce i switched it to ring mod mode, flipped it to vibrato, and flipped it to shallow. I left the same presets as my regular phase tone, and it sounded super fucking dank.

that trick is currently my "chorus" pedal.
I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

well i've been trying to do a demo of my pedal board and how i use it at work, so maybe that'll happen tomorrow. it has a vibrato switch you know? i guess it doesnt sound exactly like a chorus pedal, if you want to be technical, more like a chorus/vib :p, but in combination with my delay with modulation on, it does what i need. fucking love it.

Are you guys putting your Whetstone before or after your dirtboxes? I think I like the way it sounds apres dirt better....

I think classically (which doesn't mean much) SS types go after dirt and Phase90 types go before. They really are that different.

And the Whetstone is based on the SS, right?

Thanks Kyl - gotta say, just tried a Subdecay Quasar DLX, and it's a very cool phaser, but the Whetstone is on a whole other level. I spoke to the Subdecay designer who told me he thought the Whetstone was really impressive. I love mine and yes, it does sound best after dirt - I tried it both ways. Thanks!
