Anyone ever do a sip8 to dip8 conversion? I ordered an adapter board from China and it looks fairly straight forward as long as you can match up opamp pinout..

Going to try it in the 40th DS-1. I've heard good things about 4558 in that circuit, but with a socket I can try a bunch.

Now I found a report that 4558 sound like ass ..

I'll just try everything I got anyway

You'll probably find a lot of reports saying the ds-1, in general, sounds like ass

I reached the point in life some time ago that I take most opinions with a grain of salt :idk: especially in regards to what sounds good gear wise.

Yeah so my Weller WES51 started shocking me while soldering random shit. The cord looks OK, but I've read reports that the shocking is a symptom of the cord/pen going bad. Unfortunately the new one is coming from Florida which is essentially as far away from Washington state as you can get.

I got my SIP to Dip adapter board in, so once my soldering iron is back in action I can get back to work.. :thumb:

New pen/cord arrived, so I hooked it up and reluctantly attempted to solder in the dip socket I was working on when it began shocking me... and no more shocks! So it was just the pen/cord. $40 isn't so bad.

So now I can get back to the builds.

Holy grail reverb mod, which i heard about from SpaceLordMother who was kind enough to rap with me about it and send me in the right direction, and then even send me a spare rotary he had!! :!!!: What a G!! Thanks dood you're the king!

So yeah I took the switch apart first by gently lifting the tabs on the back and it came apart easily as seen in the first pic. The switch fits nicely in the slot, but it has a little play so I cut a stripboard 3 rows wide with the extra ground strip to give a little width. So the four corners of the switch are 1, 2, 4 and 8 respectively and the 2 in the middle are common. For the 8 position you will need to wire pins 1, 2 and 4 to separate rows

So then I realized I didn't need a cut across the common so I jumped it Hehe!

Anyway next step wire a lead to each 1, 2, and 4, which will be for the LED indication for each of the 3 "switch on" settings. Also at this time solder the added wire at C20 I believe and original orange and yellow wires from the switch to one of the ro3s 1,2 or 4.. And the brown wire to your common.

Then squeeze the board and rotary in your original switch body.

Then I wired up the 3 wires from 1, 2 and 4 to LEDs and the grounds from them to a common on the stomp switch.

3 holes drilled, installed the LEDs and fired it up. :!!!:

Thanks again to SpaceLordMother for all the help, mines definitely not as elegant as his, but it took me like 20 minutes total and it works.

Oh also I had to move all the wires on the "long" end of the stripboard to the very end so the screw for mounting didn't interfere. It goes down right to the board when snug. Also note the row I clipped half of to prevent the tabs from grounding out the whole row..

The chip the holy grail is built off of has 8 presets.. The stock switching only uses 3 .. So the mod unlocks the other 5. They are all really fun
