Shin Ei Companion Fuzz/Audio Monk Fuzz Potion

Postby mct » Fri Sep 02, 2016 12:50 pm

After doing some searching around for this pedal, and realizing that the pic I used to sell my Audio Monk Fuzz Potion in 2013 is still a top pic when searching for it, I'm looking into building something along those lines. Haven't seen one of these around in a while and I'm about to work on a kit to get some chops back since its been a long time since I even soldered anything.

Does anyone have reviews/comments on the Shin Ei kit from General Guitar Gadgets? If I remember correctly, the Fuzz Potion is based off the original Shin-ei effect and I figured it would be a cool place to start if I was looking for that sound.

It's such a simple circuit and their kits are good quality so I can't see there's anywhere to go wrong with it.

You might want to socket the transistors if they don't provide sockets and if they haven't included it, you can add the 'mids' control which I think is a pretty useful one....(if that isn't provided in the kit already)

....just that pot between the 0.1uf cap and ground.
