How hard would it be to Trails a new DD-3?

if it is fet switching like the old ones then yeah not too hard. takes time and now two switches vs one footswitch. I only see one DIP IC and a ribbon cable, 3 FET's. I do not know if there is a daughter board and I do not know if it is some new software thing. buy it and find out.

The dd-6&7 have trails, but don't sound as good, and most importantly, don't bend pitch the same with the time control.

Eatyourguitar- I'll grab one when the energy bar on my wallet replenishes and take gut shots galore.

the old one had two outputs. you could probably just send the wet out to a passive mixer on the output jack. then disable the switching jack. you might need to bypass the wet fet switch on the output section of the wet. not hard if you have the schematic. probably move one wire and add a resistor.
