so i looooove the look of firebirds, but everyone ive played has been a little dissapointing
so i figure ill build my own to my own specs :)

this style body, not the other firebird style

this neck

this color for the body

specs:

Body: either alder or maple
Neck: maple
21 frets
graphite nut
havent decided on the bridge yet, probably a Tele style with an ashtray cover (so graphtech saddles as well)
planet waves locking/cutting tuners, gonna steal them from my strat and put gotohs on it (maybe...)
still deciding on what to do with the pickguard, probably white, or the same color as the body with some cool design on it

wiring:
3 pickups of course, though im not too sure exactly which ones yet
I might stick a mini in the bridge, a single coil in the mid and a humbucke at the neck
or reversed....
maybe ill go all p-90s!
idk...
ideas?

i do know this though, they'll each have a volume control
each a tone
and each a kill switch

comments, complaints, coffee?

Well, if John Entlwistle did it, you ARE onto something. Scroll down this link http://www.thewho.net/whotabs/equipment ... 71-74.html and check out the "Fenderbird", a Thunderbird body with a P-bass neck.

What cha goona do for the neck? Fire/Thunderbirds are neck thru, thus the raised middle section. A friend of mine glued a G&L ASAT neck to a mahogany body, (he filled in the screwholes with wood) and it came out sounding really sweet.

I like the idea, I'd go with P-90's and single coils....but I never played a mini humbucker. I'm a sucker for P-90s.

BTW thats the sexiest bass I've ever seen.
