I didn't particularly like the EP he released earlier in the year. Is this along the same lines?

I haven't liked much of his output in the last few years. Opiate Sun and Ascension were the last records that really grabbed me.

I've listened to it a couple of times over the weekend and I agree with manymanyhaha, I didn't appreciate the vocals very much. It's not bad but II don't think I'm going to come back to it very often in the future.

You didn't like the recent Godflesh stuff? Or some of the JK Flesh?

I didn't particularly like the EP earlier this year either. I think I said elsewhere but it is still true: Though I appreciate him pushing his sound into different territories, it wasn't territories that I was able to appreciate. Terminus has some moments that are similar. The auto-tune sound of some of the vocals doesn't do anything for me (think Dowi is hinting at this same thing). I will probably try to give another listen at some point but yes, I don't find this new iteration of Jesu to be particularly inspiring like I did the new iteration of Godflesh.

Ah no, I worded that poorly. I meant Jesu output, rather than JKB's general output. Godflesh is always good, and I like JK Flesh even if techno isn't my bag, he does it in a way that appeals to me (i.e. nasty!). I really like the Zonal LP he did with The Bug recently too. I'd love to hear him do more dubby electronic stuff like that.

I gave the new album a spin. I definitely like it more than the earlier EP, there's a few songs that are along the lines of Opiate Sun. It still didn't grab me as a whole, but I can imagine I'll give it more plays. I gave the EP two goes and I doubt I'll go back to it, it just wasn't for me. It came across as a bit of a messy sound collage, whereas I always thought of Jesu as his slow-core pop project. The album has some chug-pop going on, which I dig.

Agreed on all fronts! Although . . .

Semantics  I wouldn't call Wulfen techno but is Jk Flesh considered techno? :idk: I honestly don't know . . . .

I try to listen to everything you release, by the way, but you release so much, I can't fuckin keep up

I think the last few JK Flesh records have been techno, or some variant of it. JKB seems to consider it techno when I've read/heard him talking about that project. The earlier stuff seemed a more mixed bag. I dunno, I like it all, whatever it is. I don't usually care for a 4 on the floor thing, but I seem to make an exception for JK Flesh. I mostly like how it makes my speakers sound like they're going to cave in.

And thanks! and yes, I do  I release pretty much everything I record. Absolutely no quality control.

Yeah, I pretty much eliminate all 4 on the floor crap from consideration, don't get it. But have really come to enjoy lots of non-4 on the floor electronic stuff the last few years, including lots of stuff I kind of somehow missed listening to between the mid-90's (Scorn, Techno Animal etc) to about 2017 or so when I started paying attention again.

Finally got around to listen to the last one from Bob Mould. Pretty straghtforward compared to his latest ones, but i feel like it lacks of memorable songs. To me his best phase (after Husker Du & Sugar) was from 2012 to 2016.

Same! I adore Scorn, though I was very late to that project too, but that was my gateway to electronic music a good few years ago.

Have you heard his other alias 'Fret'? Less dubby, more just massive kick drums and noise. Very good. I think he only did one album under that name, but it's pretty great.
