Ambient / drone / minimalism / etc.

Looking around, there doesn't seem to have been an ambient thread since 2012. I had a couple things I was going to post, but the didn't quite fit on any of the adjacent threads (like the New Age But Good thread) so I figured I'd start something.

Heard this at a show the other night + it really stuck with me. Don't know much about the composer, Anthony Genge:

Posted some Joseph Shabason elsewhere, but bears re-mentioning. Both of his albums have a bunch of my fave local musicians in the mix:

everything Andrew Chalk does is fantastic:

Jim O'Rourke's 'steamroom' series is a seemingly endless font of awesomeness:

ooh, i rather like that!

i'm quite fond of this, which i heard on KFJC in Los Gatos Hills, CA (quite possibly the best college radio station in the USA; available online and via Android app, assumedly as an Apple app as well) back in the early 00s. it's a live recording from the 2002 Festival d'Actuelle in Victoriaville, Canada. don't be afraid just because Akita is involved...it starts out a bit crunchy but quickly settles into overlapping washes of atmospheric textures that become quite lovely and transportational.

Stars of the Lid - And Their Refinement Of The Decline

To me one of the most beautiful ambient drone recordings ever...

Stars of the Lid are so so excellent.

Ryuichi Sakamoto's collabs are minimal masterpieces:

and I can't count how many times I have laid down and listened to this in the dark:

This guys channel is pretty interesting, he makes music using unconventional sources like old test equipment for various industrial/technical purposes.
