Hey all! So, over the last year or so I've discovered a huge array of talented female singers that I never knew about. From Sophia Urista, Chelsea Wolfe, Torres...etc. to Mazzy Star and Garbage.
When I was growing up, women were always talked poorly about in rock and roll and I was kind of raised in a chauvinist environment. So as a result, I kind of missed out on a lot of really good stuff as well as being a dumb fuck teenager who was a pos. That's a different story however.
After I met my wife (when I was 19), my entire outlook on everything changed. Not immediately but it did. I still didn't listen to many things outside of I guess my comfort zone, but now I'm finding in my 30's that those zones have really shifted.
I'm enjoying a mass variety of singers and musicians and realizing how much I truly have missed out on. On the other hand, I'm finding a ton of treasure in my 30's here.
My point is I want some recommendations.
I'm not super picky. I'm digging on all kinds of genres. I still kind of hate pop though. Not sure if that will every change.
Hope this thread doesn't piss anyone off. I'm kind of self reflecting here at the same time as asking for suggestions.
