Okay, the new BURIAL was solid. I don’t think my poor heart could have handled another music let down this year. I’m so relieved but still gassy.

The latest release from Liz Harris, but not under GROUPER, NIVHEK, felt like a milestone for her work. I was REALLY into it. Almost 2011-2013 BURIAL like (in terms of structure, not genre or sound). I was a big fan the format. Two songs on each vinyl. Side B being a reworking of Side A (like old school disco singles in a way. You go the disco or house side on side A, and the dub side on side B).

the new Ride album is very good, and actually appears to be something of a hit...it entered the UK charts at #7, is in the Oz Top Five, and was the Most Added record on US radio last week. it's been awhile since a record i really liked went somewhat global in terms of sales and airplay...there's a really neat phenomenon exemplified by a Twitter interaction i had the other day, where someone commented that a particular timing (2:09 to be precise) on a YouTube from the new Ride was really great, and i knew exactly what he meant without even needing to look because i'd twigged that same spot in the track ("Fifteen Minutes," fwiw) when listening the day before. it was cool to think that there's someone over in fucking Ayrshire digging on the exact same bit of music in a similar moment in time, and thus as well with somebody in Sydney, Berlin, and Tokyo.

I never really "got" King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard before, but the new album is like 80's thrash with an overlay of surf and psych, and GODDAMN is it pushing all of my buttons!

Also, I used to LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Ride, but not so much the last album. Will have to give the new one a go!

Don't know if anyone has said it but the newest Falls of Rauros album is really great.

I've never really got Ty Segall, but King Gizzard's "infinite psych record" is pretty ok if you fancy what an Oneida record would sound like without any surprises.

However!
Scottish Space Race, my fuzz friends. This record kills everything.

i'd say that there's a Ty album for everybody, because there are so many and (especially the last few years) they're quite distinct.

I think my main issue is that they feel like albums made for everybody.

I was never a big fan until that album he put out with WHITE FENCE last year, and his T. REX covers album... that ruled!

OH EM FUCKING GEE!
We're getting two ARIEL PINK releases this year in October!
ODDITIES SODOMITES VOL 2 (I have like... a relationship with VOL 1). I think this was recorded during PEAK-PINK era and just went unreleased.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5NZQDzjxrk
And this is going to be a new LP "Underground". Look at that cover art. Total throw back to "Loverboy".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g-AH0LjPto

Sorry I can't contain my excitement. I've been listening to ARIEL PINK almost 20 years now (wow, that's hard to wrap my head around!)

EDIT: NOPE... I'm retarded. "Underground" is a reissue     Not only that but... it's been in my iTunes... on my 2008 MacBook. Let the cyber bullying begin!
EDIT II: I new I was right about something! ODDITIES VOL. 2 IS NEW. Or 'new' old.
