Mark E Smith dies aged 60

Postby Ugly Nora » Wed Jan 24, 2018 6:07 pm

I sincerely believe that history will judge The Fall to be the greatest rock and roll band of all time when all is said and done.

Oh, this is an awful thing to wake up to

In remembrance, the best recording of him outside of music:

This thread is the first I've heard about it. One of those genuinely gasp-out-loud shock moments. Sad.

My wife told me a little while ago - what a dreadful loss! He kind of looked like he could never die, or already had and was refusing to stop moving... he was a sort of anti establishment figure that the UK will be a lot more bland without. We need more weird, not less :(

The Hip Priest is still appreciated.

Yeah, that sucks very much :(.
He seemed somehow immortal, and at least his music is.

Here's the first thing I listened to from The Fall, my friends played that one a lot at parties/etc. when I was a teenager.
Still one of my favourites...

Absolutely this, he looked about 65 when he was 45 and it seemed like he was just going to be around forever.

This sucks. There'd been a few fall gigs cancelled because of his health recently but I didn't realize he was in such a bad way. :(

Tremendous band, tremendous loss.
good deals are here.
escapecraft is here.

Sucks bad. My boss is an old punk dude, toured a ton back in the day, met Mark and kept the cig they smoked together. He got me into the fall once I started working there.

He was a huge fan. Can't imagine how he must feel right now.

Regardless, smoke em if you got em boys. Lifes a bitch then you die.

He was so self-aware in this song:

All on one note"

such a bummer, also reminds me of the first Girls Against Boy's album
