I bought an Anamanaguchi USB stick that had everything except the Scott Pilgrim stuff on it. I thought that was a cool idea, especially for indie bands that press an EP, don't do Spotify/bandcamp/itunes, and then you can't hear that stuff if you missed the physical run.

My gf had some KISS hitop vans when we were younger. They were the worst things in the world.

I bought a Daughters bic lighter at a show in 2004. It ran out of fuel like 2 months later and I managed to hold on to it for like 10 years.

I think it was Iceage who were selling knives at a show once. They looked cool but were made like shit, I broke it on the train home accidentally and they ignored my messages about it.

I also got a copy of The Consumer for £20 instead of the ludicrous prices people usually charge, which was cool.

A t-shirt with a Danish death/thrash band called Hatesphere I bought at a show in 5th grade. T-shirt said "Death and Destruction" on the back. Was told not to wear it by my teacher and that I should think about what messages I was sending. Still the most rebellious I've ever felt.

I saw Bastard Noise maybe like 4(?) years ago and it was one of my all time favorite performances. They did a full on MITB style thing with a drummer I don't remember, Eric Wood destroying on bass and Aimee Artz doing tabletop electronics. After their set Wood and Artz were hanging out at their merch table and I pretty much opened my wallet and threw money at them. I got a shirt that says "ETERNAL WAR AGAINST THE DICKS IS ALL WE CAN RESPECT" across the front, a patch and a couple records. One of them was a reissue of the MITB split "Dis-Corporation/The Power of Hash" and Mr Wood seemed really excited that it came with a poster inside. I thought that was neat. Anyway they were super nice to me and all that crap I bought has some sentimental value now. Not sure if it's "the best merch" but it makes me real happy.

Runner up: all the beer coozies Ive bought at merch tables.

All girl indie rock band I played a show with once called RILLA sold download cards of their album attached to boxes of cereal. That always stood out to me as being pretty fucking awesome.

Dinosaur Jr ear plug holder/key chain from the Green Mind tour. Can't remember if I bought it or got it as a promo or something, but I used it for many years till it fell apart. Without it, I'd be way more deaf than I am now.

Charlie Harper took the licence plate bezel off his rental van and got some letters and made me a UK SUBS shirt at the show. He was telling me how Alvin Gibbs didn't come on tour because he was scared his wife would get assaulted (this was right after 9/11).

EX-Girl were selling panties...didn't buy any though.

I should've picked this one up, but I don't know why I didn't (I kinda did): it was handwritten letters of correspondence between Nick Blinko and Mark from Part 1. They were like their responses to each other's art and stuff. It came with a CD and DVD I think. It was in a clear plastic bag with gold ribbon. I actually was supposed to get a copy, but things happened haha. I've got the Polish cassette tape and VHS thing instead (I've got a bunch of cool Part1 and Rudimentary Peni merch).

My friend got a headbutt from Wesely Willis!
