That was absolutely amazing Olin - another incredible band I'd never heard of. Thanks for posting it.
For my own contribution to this thread I would like to put forward Dez Mona and their cover of Who Knows Where the Time Goes by Sandy Denny
I saw the band perform this to a (criminally) small audience in a bandstand in a park in Brussels many years ago at twilight in mid Summer... one of those memories you never forget.

I love Slint and Bedhead and The New Year... but I hate the descriptor "Slowcore". Pretty much any "clever" neologism of Whatever-core, when used as a description for absolutely anything makes me feel violent.
That being said... I often tend towards my sloppy version of the "melodic interlocking" that great bands like Bedhead/New Year, Slint, etc. make sound so compelling and enveloping.
Here is something that I made over several years. The original video was shot in 1992, then another pass of video shot in 1998, then another video pass from 2002. The first footage was recorded for an assignment that I staid up late the night before to complete and I had a caffeine-withdrawal freakout that I decided to leave in when I submitted it to class. When watching it I laughed, even if no one else did, which suggested the rest.
The audio—from 2002—exhibits my sonic debt. But the missteps and mistakes are all my own. One of the ways I tried to "mask" my debt to Bedhead was to slow the audio way down and play it backwards and forwards, overlapping simultaneously.
More discordant version of sonic debt:

here's a link to a spotify playlist i just put up. it fits on a cd. lots of slowcore-esque stuff, which i'm really into, and a lot of other lo-fi/shoegaze/4-track sounding stuff, which i'm also really into. think it flows really well while still covering a lot of ground.
