^ The new Ufomammut is great. I say this as a non-brutal person who prefers flute solos and funky basslines.

The new Ben Frost is pretty great. I'm kind of biased though as I always liked his work. He is really good at always having something interesting going on in his tracks; you can kind of turn any one on at any point in the duration and get into it. No need for linearity. I'll be listening to this one again and again like I did Aurora.

Haven't checked out the new Ben Frost but he's pretty great. Usually a little too song-y for me but definitely a great artistic talent.

Necrot, Blood Offerings.
Keep spinning this one and liking it more and more. A marginally original take on OSDM, but it doesn't make me angry and want to play Obituary instead.

2 members of Vastum as well - quality production and playing. Love it.

By no means is this comprehensive or have I sat down to really make a list or anything.

So far I'm into Young Thug - Beautiful Thugger Girls, Xxxtentacion - 17, Wolves in the Throne Room - Thrice Woven.

Didn't know there was a new WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM out. I'm glad I saw them before they started getting a lot of shit from Black Metal Purists...cause quite honestly they put on an amazing show that still sticks with me!!!

That one time I saw them in 2009 is still in my top 5 of shows, I couldn't believe what I was feeling :trippy:

And thanks for the heads up!

Also, I'm listening to the new Amenra, I don't know how to feel about it though. It's the same ol' Amenra so I guess it's as good (or bad) as the rest. :idk:

I love black metal and I can't stand the purists; to me once people start trying to shove a genre in a box, they're the ones actually doing it a disservice. I get that it hurts that this thing that used to be outsider art and make you feel special and different isn't really, anymore. But that's because it's time as outsider art has passed; let it be popular, embrace having more potentially-likeminded peeps, I guess. Anyone who can't dig "Dream House" by Deafhaven even a little is probably pretty humourless as people go. Personally I like Wolves, Xasthur, Leviathan, the West Coast stuff, more than a lot of the European stuff.
