Cassette releases rolling thread

Thu May 11, 2017 6:00 am

I'd like to get a thread going for people who have been buying/listening to cassettes with the revival on bandcamp and such over the past few years.
What have been your faves? What's coming soon? Recommendations? What are good labels/artists to follow?
What's your bandcamp handle so we can all ogle your collection?
Mines 'dermo'

I'm in this cassette thing mainly for ACID, experimental music, electronic, hip hop and anything avant garde/noisy/post punk-y/ etc. Though have found signifcantly less guitar music that tickles my fancy than the others styles. Hip hop in particular seems to saturating the Bandcamp cassette market, and what's even better is it mostly seems to be ACE.

Favourite purchases so far:
https://fractalmeat.bandcamp.com/album/acid-smut
experimental acid - sounds like it was recorded through a mic - noice

https://innerislands.bandcamp.com/album ... chitecture
bells and gongs and things. super chill.

https://phinery.bandcamp.com/album/canard
experimental heavily ciat-lonbarde based music

https://reckno.bandcamp.com/album/alan-james-read
two long tracks that sound like a robotic version of a hammered dulcimer

https://fathermurphy.bandcamp.com/album/croce-2
post punk-y, noisy, drone-y 'the sound of catholic guilt'. Saw these guys support Tomaga earlier this year and they blew me away.

https://inneroceanrecords.bandcamp.com/album/bsd-u-pook
hip hop made through a wow & flutter / lofi junky / clarinot?

https://hainbach.bandcamp.com/album/ashes
all of hainbach's stuff is great.

Who's got some suggestions of labels / artists to follow?

I have a few from this dude, who makes rad harsh noise:

There are a few of these left, from our very own Cherry Wave:

Also, this dude, for experimental chiptune fun (he's the Noise Pedals dude):

Last tape I bought was the body's 2002 demos. There are some cool tape labels but drawing a blank atm. IRerror has tapes. :p

Those first two are awesome. Added to the wishlist :)
Who is the cherry wave then?

Sadly I can't stand chiptune. or varpourwave. :erm: I'll take pretty much anything else though! :)*

I have an absurd amount of tapes. Mostly harsh noise and power electronics stuff that I ordered direct from whoever made it. That said, I was obsessed with NIGHT PEOPLE RECORDS for a while so I have a lot of their stuff. I have some Kitty Play stuff. And of course some things from Bandcamp.

My "new" car has a tape deck so I'm excited to bust out all my stuff.

To make it interesting, this is not my typical listening, but I enjoyed this guy's hip-hop for a while. 'V' was my favorite but it's all good.

Bought the last batch of SISSY SPACEK tapes too (that was year ago). Looked into getting the latest batch from HOSPITAL PRODUCTIONS but I bought pedals instead.

Chrisdermo-

I came across this cassette/vinyl label last night that I think you will enjoy since you mentioned you liked my stuff. This stuff has a similar exotic type feeling.

Check out the releases by Corum and MILLION BRAZILIANS (which I think might be the same guy actually).

Seriously awesome stuff here. Really enjoying pstmdrn and the psychic sounds stuff thanks! I'm on vacation at the moment with shitty wifi so will delve deeper when I'm back and check out your label strangetales and phengren Oswald! Glad this thread picked up a bit - thought there would be more ilfers with a tape habit!
