Um also this:

When I first moved to San Diego some friends asked if I wanted to go to a show. A bunch of bands I'd never heard of but yeah sure. It was these guys, eighteen visions and some other swoopy-bangs-core bands I don't remember.
casecandy: is this band trve or apostate?

Eighteen visions is beyond fucking lame.

First question, yes, I definitely love them! All four albums are pretty good. In the following order: Three Cheers > Bullets > Danger Days > Black Parade. Although the aesthetic of Danger Days and the accompanying tour and comic is the best... Gerard is a really talented writer and artist... probably a little more so than he is a musician, to be honest. He can only play guitar to write the songs; the other guys wouldn't let him play live LOL. But he's starting his own comics imprint as part of DC. He always said he didn't want to be a musician forever so I'm happy for him. Yeah, anyway, I've probably listened to Three Cheers as much as I've listened to anything.

Second question, kindof? I'm a pretty noted scenester/emo kid/etc. but we don't have Hot Topic in Eastern Canada so I've only shopped there twice (in D.o.S.'s fine home state, which also has Newbury Comics and that is definitely my jam) and only to buy vinyl, I swear on my grandmother's grave. I got my LP of A Fever You Can't Sweat Out there for $15 and now it's worth like $350! What the fuck!

Frodog is the only one who isn't ruining this thread....

I'm disappointed in you all. 2 pages before the whitest belts in all the land get posted. But I guess it's fitting that it's me posting it.

Man, we need to teleport you back to the late 90s and get you into some better emo.

I kid! Sorry, just have to tease. I guess I just always thought MCR were such a caricature of what I'd consider the already exaggerated sounds that emo evolved into (I'm talking about bands like Saves the Day and Get Up Kids, which I know you like as well), that I couldn't get into it.

Oddly enough one of my oldest friends in the world was their drummer during the last bit of the band's existence, and still plays for Gerard Way. We both started playing within a month or so of each other, and somewhere I've got a recording of us covering Metallica in 6th grade :D

Also I'm not sure I understand the point of this thread—was thinking Space was making fun of this stuff, hence why I posted the not-so-good Hot Rod Circuit vid. But maybe I'm wrong...

Oh, dude! I love all that stuff, too. '90s emo is my bread and butter.

Sorry about your thread Spacey

I'm happy I didn't ruin the thread (by posting Chiodos?) then, because that's where I thought this was going for a minute. Maybe it is? Still think "all's well that ends well" is a rad album.

Is white belt mainly an American thing, and is it well dead now? I was never rly in a scene like that, so I wouldn't know all the weird archetypes/politics except from the internet.

Let's take a little tour around the world (of belts (sorry for all the vids)):

Norway

Sweden

Italy & Germany

Phillipines

(looks like a chill scene)
